Publisher's summary

Three years have passed since the Jamaicans caused the apocalypse, and things in post-Armageddon Chicago have settled into a new kind of normal. Unfortunately, that "normal" includes collapsing skyscrapers, bands of bloodthirsty maniacs, and a dwindling cache of survival supplies. After watching his family, friends, and most of the non-sadistic elements of society crumble around him, Patrick decides it's time to cross one last item off his bucket list. He's going to Disney World.

This hilarious, heartfelt, gut-wrenching odyssey through post-apocalyptic America is a pilgrimage peppered with peril, as fellow survivors Patrick and Ben encounter a slew of odd characters, from zombie politicians and deranged survivalists to a milky-eyed oracle who doesn't have a lot of good news. Plus, it looks like Patrick may be hiding the real reason for their mission to the Magic Kingdom.

Loved it . lol funny and also a great post apocalyptic story. I highly recommend both of these . And the narrator is perfect for it.

One of my favorite books ever

I love this book. And you cannot beat the performance by the narrator. It’s an irreverent, funny, witty book with awesome “end of the world with a smack of Monty python” humor, and in the end I have wound up listening to it over and over because the friendship is so snarky, goofy, bickering and absolutely true that it makes me happy every time.
Ps- technically I’m a middle aged woman- for what that’s worth. But I listen like a 13 yr old geek :)

it is a B version of a Post Apocalyptic, Monty Python-esq, Planes Trains & Automobiles type buddy Odyssey.

Crazy in the chaos

Loved it. The wackiness is well balanced with a true friendship and deep seated emotion. I will never look at a Butterscotch Snack pack the same way again.

It’s fine.

It reads like a fan fiction written by a high schooler who didn’t have much experience writing a story with an expansive world where actions have consequences.

The entire book could have been reduced to four or five chapters, the first few and the final few. Overall, the premise is laid out, the adventure is set, the heroes have an interaction with the only people they will ever interact with again, and everything else in between is as engaging as it is funny.

Honestly, my biggest issue with the main characters is that they are both so astronomically idiotic that you’d think they would either learn from their mistakes or just die in this world.

Entertaining story

It was definitely entertaining and at times funny. The characters were endearing. The reveal at the end was very moving.

Fans of John Dies in the End, Zombieland

The Jamaicans have caused the world and one of the two heroes of this story, Patrick has decided that he was wanted to make that trip he had always planned to Disney World from Chicago and take his trusty sidekick Ben along for the journey.

Something that isn't mentioned anywhere in the book, everybody has their own flavor of craziness. The book is a travel journal funny, sad and full of dark humor interspaced with pop culture references in brought about in ways that are unexpected. Barry Bonds makes a great cameo which I totally agree with.
