Publisher's Summary

Part of the west coast is recovering from a series of devastating earthquakes. This caused a record drop in the stock market, and, due to a national debt of 20 trillion dollars, the value of the dollar is on the edge of collapsing.

At the same time, after a civil rights organization is hijacked, riots start breaking out across the country, which could lead to a new civil war.

Our enemies see our weakness and know it's time to take their place as world leaders. Two countries have come up with a way and have set everything into motion to do just that.

Vince and Kim Johnson live on a farm 40 miles to the southeast of Kansas City, Missouri. After serving 17 years in the Army, due to an injury, Vince had to take a medical retirement. Now, all he thinks he has to fight is cabin fever. Little does he know that a chain of events is about to take place that will test all his training and skills.

He must also learn how to balance two types of love from two different women and not let temptation consume him.

Both must band together with family, inexperienced friends, plus four of the men Vince served with years earlier, to prepare for and try to survive a time unlike any in our history.

Warning: Contains adult language

There are some references to biblical prophecy as two of the main characters suspect that the events happening could be the beginning of the actual Tribulation, but don't expect a religious book. Some of the characters use real-world adult language.

Even though this book is a favorite of many, there are some that feel very threatened by one of the female characters and the feelings she has towards the married leader of the group and the reaction of the wife. They just don't seem to understand how strong the trust and love can be between a close couple, even during times of temptation.

Even though the storyline is non-sexual and very significant in setting up a storyline in book 2, if this type of story bothers you, you may want to pass on this book.

    "Slow start but good pickup"

We downloaded this on Audible for a trip. We felt it moved slow in the beginning and almost abandoned it. It began to pick up and was very good after about the first third.

"Apocalypse Coming: The Tears of Ephraim"

I am very disappointed in this book. I'm surprised that it is included in the section where Christian books are usually found. The book is riddled with profanity; it includes scenes which if not graphically portrayed gives the reader enough verbal information to get the point across. I realize that non-christian characters often use profanity as a second language but even the 'good guys' employ the tongue liberally. I think the story of the Apocalypse can be told without using this method as a means of conveyance.
