Beloved New York Times best-selling author Linda Lael Miller pens tales that sing with the soul of the American West. In An Outlaw’s Christmas, Sawyer McKettrick leaves the family ranch to become a marshal in Blue River, Texas. En route, he’s badly injured during a violent blizzard and ends up in the care of schoolteacher Piper St. James. As the storm rages outside, Sawyer begins to awaken in Piper long-forgotten dreams of finding love and raising a family.

Loved them all.

What does Jack Garrett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Everything!! His voice is sexy, romantic I just listening to him. Even if the book was not good I would listen to it just to here his voice!!!

I have many questions

Why is everyone burning everything just because it got blood on it? If they're poor 'waste not want not' burning outerwear in winter is cray-cray. Also why does the hero have a wild southern twang...and then not? And who put the stick up the teachers' bum? why doesn't anyone care who shot him? why did the madam walk thru a blizzard to ask about the Christmas play? why doesn't she have a decent coat? Why is her daughter well dressed with such fancy shoes if she wears hooker clothes and silk slippers in the snow? Why would she hide his gun knowing he is sherrif and was shot? Shouldn't someone bring her some food sometime?

Very slow

gave up on the audiobook with almost 2 hours remaining. I cant. It’s just too slow and the romance developed overnight? The narration was really good but the story is boring.

Weak story, superbly narrated

I almost felt angry listening to this improbable, insipid story, set in small town Texas, 1915. The heroine is an absolute idiot. No credit to her teaching profession. It's a wonder her wounded "outlaw" didn't freeze or starve under her tender care. Also, the relationship developed too fast, in a few days -- and most of that time, the hero was asleep or delirious. Further, the suspense plot simply ... disappeared. No follow up. Who hired the killer? Will he try again?

And this small town has no doctor, no hospital, but a newborn babe -- only a week old -- was carted miles from home, across the snow, to see a Christmas pageant and meet the community -- even though severe, infectious illness and attempted murder has been hitting the streets.

But the narration is pitch perfect.

I have not read Linda Lael Miller's books before. She has quite a following. Maybe it's me. Maybe it's this particular book. I doubt I will try another, though.

Did I mention that Jack Garrett delivered a 5-star performance?
