Publisher's summary

The brilliant new summer best seller from Lindsey Kelk, author of the I Heart series.

Everyone loves a bridesmaid. Except Maddie, who's perpetually asked to be one.

Everyone loves a wedding. Except Maddie's best friend, who's getting divorced.

And everyone loves the way Maddie's so happy backstage. Except Maddie herself.

One best friend is in wedding countdown while the other heads for marriage meltdown. And as Maddie juggles her best chance at promotion in years with bridezilla texts and late-night counselling sessions, she starts to wonder - is it time to stop being the bridesmaid?

Hilarious!

Would you listen to Always the Bridesmaid again? Why?

Any additional comments?

The writing in this book is witty and...hilarious! The narrator is fantastic! (Honestly, much funnier than my own imagination if I had read, rather than listened to, this book.)

The plot didn't sound that great when I was browsing books, but the reviews were so good, I decided to try it. Glad I did! It explores a great mix of career challenges, soul searching, friendship, and of course romance. All punctuated with sarcasm and wit.

This was my first Lindsey Kelk book, and I am hooked. I'm now listening to the "I Heart" books, and they are also great, but none as good as this one.

I hope more of the print books are made available on Audible.

Great listen!

What did you love best about Always the Bridesmaid?

It's just a great, funny book, that doesn't sacrifice intelligence. It explores female friendships with real honesty.

Have you listened to any of Lotti Maddox’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first time listening to a performance by Lotti Maddox, and I found her to be so endearing as a narrator. Lotti has not nailed the American accent, but yet I loved listening to her every time she voiced Lauren. For me, it didn't take anything away from the story.

Any additional comments?

I listened to this in my car commuting to and from work, and would often find myself just sitting in a parking lot or driveway to listen a little more. It's engaging and fun. If you enjoy chick lit, you'll love this book.

So-so story, did not care for the narrator

I had listened to About a Girl by Lindsey Kelk and had the absolute best time listening to it, so I downloaded this book (unrelated to the About a Girl series). Blah. I didn't like the friendships between the girls from the beginning and the story progressed just as I imagined with no real surprises. ***Spoiler Alerts*** I think the thing that bugged me the most was that we were supposed to be rooting for the main character, an event planner, who in the past apparently was brilliant at her job but did nothing but make mistake after mistake throughout the entire book. I felt myself thinking, "You don't deserve this promotion, you suck at your job." Also, her primary love interest was so transparently "not into her", it was annoying to listen to that piece of the story unfold. I also didn't understand why, after being humiliated upon learning that her said love interest was dating someone else, why that someone else had to sock her in the eye? Tall, blond bitches don't go around getting their ghetto on and actually hitting their arch nemesis in the face. IMO a cocktail thrown over the head would have been enough.

I also did not care for the narrator. Too monotone and boring sounding. The woman who read About a Girl was 1000% times more entertaining.

Anyway, if you have literally run through every book you can think of and just want a fun-ish summer read, then go for this one. It isn't terrible, just not great. That being said, I did listen to the whole thing because I was dying to know how it would end, so obviously it has some redeeming qualities.

fun fluff

A feel good story. Rather predictable, but didn't detract from the enjoyment. Narrator was good, wish there was a *bit* more variation in "voices" like "sharoline's" (spelling?) but overall - well done.

RomCom kept in the family

This was my second reading. This time around I got that Daniel from “What a Girl Wants “ is Maddy’s brother in this book. There is a part in Bridesmaid that is kind of an epilogue for Daniel and Rachel’s story
