    "A new day"

I was so sad to hear the the old narrator had passed away. I had loved listening to her become each of ginnys characters. I was so excited and a bit sad when I found out the newest book was available to listen to. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to close my eyes and allow my mind to take in everything and become mesmerized by the voice as the last beautiful woman had. I was blown away from the first few words. the voice was a perfect fit. She took ginnys work and painted it into the masterpiece it was meant to be. I can't wait for the next books. I feel this is going to be a very strong union. thank you to both of you for your work. you inspire me every day to let go of my pain and grief and to show others that it's ok to do the same. That it's ok for us all to live together. God bless.

    "I Love this Series!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Always Forward to be better than the print version?

I like the audio version because I like to listen while I'm driving or at home while I'm working.. I wouldn't even buy a book I love if it wasn't well acted or well narrated.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the historical facts with characters that seem true to life as I have ancestors who lived in this area during this time period.

Which character – as performed by Tiffany Dougherty – was your favorite?

In general, the female characters are performed well. Sometimes the men can be a bit inconsistent in regards to their voices and the Irish accents need a bit of improvement. Christine Cunningham Smith is a hard act to follow. I think that Tiffany's narration got better by Chapter 7.

If you could take any character from Always Forward out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Abby......she's the one I would take to dinner as she would be like the mother I never had with the wisdom that comes with age and life.

    Any additional comments?

I almost didn't get #9 based on the sample narration which sounded very nasal and sing-songy. I'm so glad it went on sale because I decided to give it a try. As I said, the new narrator has big shoes to fill following Christine but by chapter 7, Tiffany got better and by then the story was as engrossing as the previous 8 books. I am looking forward to #10 and will not hesitate to buy it. This is my favorite series of books. I can't wait to hear what happens next!

"Loved it! New narrator did not disappoint!"

Another wonderful and heart wrenching addition to this entertaining story. Ginny Dye does a great job weaving a beautiful story while giving us a glimpse into our nation's history.

    "Another excellent listening experience!"

Ginny Dye's Bregdan Chronicles are both engaging and addictive. I was so excited to discover Book 9 was on Audible and once it was downloaded, it was difficult for me to break away. The plot development is good, as always, and I truly appreciate the in-depth historical facts that Ginny shares with her readers. It's interesting to note that some key conflicts of the racial and gender divide continue to exist even now, as in 1867. Different players, but same or similar issues when it comes to equal rights under the law. The author's foreshadowing gives us a clue that some suffering or sadness is on the horizon, but I was surprised at the level of emotion that the story evoked from me on a personal level. I wondered why there was a new narrator and was very sad to learn that Christine Cunningham Smith has passed away. Kudos to new narrator Tiffany Dougherty for a job well done. I am eagerly awaiting Book 10 and hope this series goes on and on.

    "Disappointed"

Disappointed with the new voice! It has ruined the characters for me. Hard to listen to. I wish Jenny could have found someone to voice the books like the other lady! So sad and discourage in finishing the chronicles

    "Always Forward, not necessarily."

I found the story line to be typical Ginny Dye, interesting and could easily hold my attention. Just enough history mixed with creative fiction to keep your interest without boring you with the historical facts. I have listened to the previous books in the series several times while waiting for the new books to appear and found them just as interesting the 3rd or 4th time around as I did the first time and I expect this one to be the same.

The new narrator, on the other hand, leaves quite a bit to be desired, in my opinion. On the plain narrative reading parts, where she is not reading as a character, she was very good with plenty of inflection in her voice to hold your attention. However, as a Southerner, I found her voices for the characters to be sadly lacking. I found her attempt at a "southern drawl" to be extremely exaggerated and actually felt that it was demeaning to Southerners. She made the characters, especially the women, sound like simpering idiots. Her male voices tended to be to sing songy and weak. I felt that her vocal rendition of most of the characters did not match the strong characters that Ginny Dye has created through the previous books in the series.

    "Ummm"

The audio recording had many issues, repeating phrases and a coughing fit and "Sorry" not edited out.
I'm not happy with the new narrator for many reasons but I don't want to be mean.
Killing off such important characters made me think I was reading Game of Thrones. A little preachy too. Needs more humor again. Hope the next book is better overall.
