A good listen

Sandra Dallas always delivers a good story of strong women dealing with challenging circumstances. This is not one of my favorites of her work but still an interesting view of women's lives when left to run a farm as their men go off to fight in the civil war.

One of her better stories

Alice's Tulips is a story of hope. It was a little less dark than many of Sandra Dallas's other works. Despite the letter writing format, it is one of my favorites.

Wonderful story!

I have enjoyed several of Sandra Dallas’ books and love learning more about the history of our country through them. My daughter and I made a quilt with the different Underground Railroad squares and it was such fun to learn more about their meaning…I have great respect for Quilters as they have boundless patience and attention to detail ~ as does Ms Dallas with the telling of her stories…I wasn’t initially taken with Alice; she seemed so self centered and judgmental ~ but she matured through her hardships and challenges.

a great read!

I'm truly a Sandra Dallas fan. Her novels are set in different parts of the country and in different time periods. All have been so interesting and well written. I can't wait to choose another!

Our favorite yet from Sandra Dallas!

This was especially great...our second Sandra Dallas, and we loved it. The relationship between the characters was the star here, and that is what we like...not so much the characters themselves, but the connections. Well, saying that, I now think back on Prayers for Sale....the same solid substance was there too, the building of a strong and rich relationship among the events and the times and the culture of the story.

Historical story that features quilting

Just loved this, the characters were nicely developed with depth. The language and word usage was spot on for the time period And the narrator gave voice so well to the main character. The story had twists and turns unexpected. Enjoyable.

Disappointed

I've read two of Sandra's books and loved them. This book was somewhat disturbing in the sexual innuendos. I realize this is a subject that occurred in history but I read to enjoy humor and positive interactions and to somewhat escape depressing realisms. I try to surround myself with uplifting materials and this was anything but that. Would not recommend
