Warning!!

Do NOT read the review titled "A Mother and/or Woman's Worst Nightmare"!!! She gives away the whole book, and even the twist at the end!!

That being said, I loved this book!! Loved, Loved Loved!!! I fell in love with some characters, and absolutely despised others! keeps you guessing!

Seeing what we want to see.

Four stars for a book of surprises. And the biggest surprise is saved for the end of the book. My heart and soul ached while reading A Mother's Confession, realizing I know people who are so similar to each of the characters. I found that scary while fearing there were times I should have spoken up. Seems each main character had good and bad traits, and I found myself understanding why. I recommend this book for almost everyone.

Much Better Than Expected

This story and narration were excellent! Never imagined the twist at the end. Although the story did move a little slow, I really enjoyed Brigid Lohrey's performance of each character, and the story unfolded in a way that held my attention and interest. Also, was quite interesting to see the multiple ways that some of the characters used denial as a coping mechanism. The twists did not feel contrived and were well integrated into the story. Emotionally gripping. Sad story, yet shows hope for the future. Don't give up. Hang in there, because you won't be sorry.

Wow! Just wow!

This book really hit home. I was involved in an abusive relationship, though no where as severe as this one. I could really relate to the struggles to try to make sense of a relationship that continued to go wrong regardless of what you did. I will listen to this one again, and probably again. Should I suspect someone is in an abusive relationship, I will give them this book. Excellent story and excellent narrator. Thanks, Audible!

Great story

Great story but the narrator was horrible. Had to force myself to continue listening. After the first few chapters the book grips you so you want to get to the end. But, the narrator is almost unbearable.

Ending I Never Saw Coming

The twist of the story surprised me. the narration at times was very whiney and annoying, but also very appropriate to the character being portrayed. I think the narration really contributed to a character in really did not like.

Predictable "movie of the week" type story.

Narration was good but story was very predictable. The "twist" was pretty apparent early on and the characters were pretty one dimensional.

Surprisingly Good- First read from this Author!

I had never heard of Kelly Rimmer before. I don't know why- I love her genre of fiction and I am baffled as to why I haven't read anything by her yet- but it's never too late! 'A Mother's Confession' was a very good listen. I loved the main character and I could even empathize with the villain in the novel because she was a mom who wanted to protect her son and feel that her son is perfect.

The book is clever in narration. A recently widowed mom tells the story of her marriage and relationship, and alternates the story with the widow's mother-in-law. The mother-in-law tells the story from her point of view. The characters were so real and raw, and Rimmer draws feeling and thought provoking revelations from reader. I cried throughout some of the scenes and I was blown away by the ending. I didn't see the ending coming- but it really tied up the story well.

The moral to the story is- we see what we want to in this life, and sometimes it takes other people to make us see what's been in front of us all along.

Great book- definitely would recommend.

quirky book

This Was a good listen although it could have done with a little more editing. post of it seemed to drag and I think we were able to understand the personality of the lead character from the third or fourth chapter. However That being said, be in for a surprise ending that you will never see coming!!
