Publisher's summary

With the assurance of a veteran author, Joanna Smith Rakoff delivers a debut novel that has earned immediate comparison to seminal works from Mary McCarthy and Jay McInerney.

A Fortunate Age chronicles the lives of twentysomething New Yorkers as they struggle with relationships, careers, and the notion of where they fit in the world. Highlighted by razor-sharp character portraits, this is a work of startling scope and complexity.

Compelling

Truly enjoyed this debut novel by Ms. Rakoff - started a bit slowly and ended abruptly! A long book in which you are drawn into the characters' lives & then don't want it to end... The narration was quite good too.
