Wodehouse Quick Ones

Just wanted to say the reader is excellent and the writing superb. Master of the art of absurdity, Wodehouse lives up to his reputation.

Cecil Strikes Again

What did you love best about A Few Quick Ones?

I am a Wodehouse fan, and once I discovered Jonathan Cecil's renditions, I became addicted. During A Few Quick Ones I was laughing as I drove down the interstate, or as I ran on the treadmill.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Few Quick Ones?

I can't pinpoint a moment as a favorite, but Cecil's ability to create the appropriate voices for Wodehouse's peculiar characters is consistently excellent.

Which scene was your favorite?

Same answer as above.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh, repeatedly!

Any additional comments?

These Wodehouse classics are a wonderful way to escape the realism of today's world. Even the most ridiculous characters are presented in a loving way. Wodehouse clearly liked all these people he created, and Jonathan Cecil clearly knows his Wodehouse!

They Fly By Too Quickly

Wodehouse is the only author whose books don’t inspire me to check periodically how many minutes are left in a chapter.

He is the only author who makes me wish the book I’m listening to was longer.

He’s the only author who wrote books I can finish, go back to the chapter index, and start all over again.

This particular offering contains almost every fauna in the Wodehouse menagerie: Jeeves and Wooster, the Drones, the Oldest Member, and Ukridge. Only Blandings Castle is missing, and you can do one of those when you finish this one. Unless, of course, you want to start this one all over again.

They do indeed go by quickly, especially as Jonathan Cecil is at the top of his form here. My only quibble is with the organization: the stories are spread over six “chapters” that bear absolutely no relation to where they begin or end.

P. G Wodehouse is the master of understated humor.

What about Jonathan Cecil’s performance did you like?

Jonathan Cecil's performance is dynamic between each character's persona. The meaty enjoyment of the circle of characters and the bubbling path of the story line are iresistable.

Any additional comments?

Just enjoy all P. G. Wodehouse narrated by Jonathan Cecil.
