Publisher's Summary

This is the remarkable story of one endearing dog's search for his purpose over the course of several lives. More than just another charming dog story, A Dog's Purpose touches on the universal quest for an answer to life's most basic question: why are we here?

Surprised to find himself reborn as a rambunctious golden-haired puppy after a tragically short life as a stray mutt, Bailey's search for his new life's meaning leads him into the loving arms of eight-year-old Ethan. During their countless adventures, Bailey joyously discovers how to be a good dog. But this life as a family pet is not the end of Bailey's journey. Reborn as a puppy yet again, Bailey wonders - will he ever find his purpose?

Heartwarming, insightful, and often laugh-out-loud funny, A Dog's Purpose is not only the emotional and hilarious story of a dog's many lives but also a dog's-eye commentary on human relationships and the unbreakable bonds between man and man's best friend. This moving and beautifully crafted story teaches us that love never dies and that every creature on earth is born with a purpose.

Wonderful

Wow simply the greatest audiobook I've ever listened to from Audible and I've over 300 on my account so far. All dog lovers will love this. You'll laugh. You'll feel sad. You'll maybe even cry. But come what may whenever your pooch tilts it's head listening to you you'll think of Bailey and wonder just what on Earth you little dog is planning. Beautifully written and it's one of the few audible that I've started to listen to again straight after. Highly, highly recommended.

Beautiful, heartwarming tail!

Any additional comments?

One of the best books I've heard! If you love dogs, this is not to be missed. It's uplifting, emotional, very moving and you'll never look at dogs in quite the same way again!

Heart-warming and gripping

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if they love dogs. The characters of the dog were very realistic and easy to imagine if you know dogs well. I laughed and cried listening... and there were several unexpected twists too.

More moving than the movie

I saw the movie first and was moved to tears several times as were most of the dog loving audience. When I started listening to the book I thought that it would not exceed the emotional experience of the movie. Trust me.. it does.. big time. All dog lovers will appreciate this.

Spellbinding!

I have never, ever, either read a paper book or listened to an audio book that has had me laughing out loud one moment and sobbing the next and I'm NOT exaggerating about the sobbing!

This has just been such a wonderful experience. I was a former dog owner so a lot of it was particularly poignant for me, but even someone who has never had a dog of their own would recognise characteristics of this wonderful little pooch.

The narration is without doubt the best I have ever listened to. How William Dufris catches the exuberating nature of a puppy's responses and reactions, to the pathos of a grown dog who loves and is loved in return is absolutely delightful.

I thoroughly recommend this book - I didn't want it to end.
