Publisher's summary

Chuckie O'Malley, having just been thrown out of Notre Dame, decides to go to the University of Chicago, thought by many of his co-religionists to be a hotbed of atheism and communism. There he finds Rosemarie, his beautiful foster sister who gave him his first kiss. Though Chuckie thinks of himself as dull, Rosemarie knows better and goads him into a career of infinite promise and gratification, to say nothing of fame and glory. Love blossoms between the two, but she carries within her a soul-destroying secret that eventually threatens her life and the lives of those who love her. Greeley paints a fascinating picture of life in the U.S. after WWII, the returning veterans, the women they loved, and their children, the baby boomers.

Not worth the price or effort to listen

This book is a total waste of time. With the unabridged edition I kept listening hoping it would get better, but it did not. Have enjoyed other Andrew Greely books through the years and continued to hold out hope for this one but it had no real story of interest or reason to spend the time to listen.

It covers a time from WWII to curent time of a family with all of their drinking, killings, deciet, sex and weird behavior. It was boring.

Don't waste your time!

Wow, it is hard to believe that any book could be this bad. Poorly written, unengaging, at times bordering on pornography, this book really deserves zero stars.

Uninteresting

I kept with this book, but found it to be boring and uninteresting. Also, it ends very abruptly which made me think possibly I was missing some of the narrative.

Not worth the download.
