A Being(s) in Love Story

Arthur MacArthur needs a job, and not just for the money. Before he dropped out of school to support his younger sister, he loved being a research assistant at the university. But working for a dragon, one of the rarest and least understood magical beings, has unforeseen complications. While Arthur may be the only applicant who isn’t afraid of Philbert Jones in his dragon form, the instant attraction he feels for his new employer is beyond disconcerting.

Bertie is a brilliant historian, but he can’t find his own notes without help - his house is a hoard of books and antiques, hence the need for an assistant. Setting the mess right is a dream come true for Arthur, who once aspired to be an archivist. But making sense of Bertie’s interest in him is another matter. After all, dragons collect treasure, and Arthur is anything but extraordinary.

Slow narration

I enjoyed the story itself very much but the purposeful slow way the narrator read made it really had to get into.

love the novel, narrator in audio could be better

What did you like best about A Boy and His Dragon? What did you like least?

I love the book and got the audiobook at a discounted rate.. It's quite an interesting story and love the characters.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I do not like the "acting" in the narration. I do not know how old the narrator is but he sounds old(the way he reads and voices speech). The narrator's voice makes the characters quite a bit older than they should be(especially Bertie). They could have found a better match in terms for the book.

Was A Boy and His Dragon worth the listening time?

I listened to it so i could multitask. but it wasn't the best audiobook I have download. I have heard worse.. but it was bearable.

Sweet story, narration is sadly lacking

I have this as an ebook, and I absolutely love the story. It is also much better than the first one in the series, I think. The narration is really horrible, though. I listened to the sample and realized it there, so I cannot really blame anybody for my purchase but myself. I like the story so much, though, that I thought how bad can it be? I admit, it can be really bad. The voices can hardly be distinguished, and the pronounciation and emphasis of emotions feels all wrong to me. That is aside from the fact that the book could probably be two hours shorter, if the narration would be conducted at a normal speed. I am sad, but it is what it is. I recommend actually reading the book, as it is a much more enjoyable experience. I will avoid the narrator in the future.

Too slow paced

This story was so slow-paced and the narrator didn't help. The premise and the MCs were interesting but I didn't really care for their relationship and found myself checking the time for it to end.

extremely boring and drawn-out

I really liked r Cooper's Little Wolf so I tried this book I couldn't get into it . its really drawn out for the first 8 chapters it's not till the last three that anything happens. I would not recommend it.

This one is my favorite I read it so many times. It’s a very cozy slow burn. I love coppers series and this is one of the best in the set.

Ok I guess

Maybe this was just not for me, but the writing was odd and honestly I couldn't tell what was going on most of the time.
To clarify, sometimes it was hard to follow along the thought process of the main character, he came to conclusions that I would never have come to, and a lot of stuff was just left for the reader to assume. To make matters worse, nothing happens for more than half of the book. There isn't much real conflict and a lot of the time its just the MC cleaning, talking to Bertie and doing mundane things. Kind of boring. Also the whole dragon loving virgins thing cringed me out a lot, and it felt like a big red flag.
Arthur is quick to get jealous but Bertie is even worse and that such a turn off. I can't think of anything worse than an overly jealous person. It's as of Bertie expects Arthur to never talk to any other man ever again. Seriously immature, even with the "Well he's a dragon" excuse that I'm sure people are going to use.
Anyway, I just didn't like the writing style to much, but it wasn't horrible to the point where it's unreadable. The story is ok, I just don't think im going to buy anything from this author again.

The naration was bad, and the way Bertie (The dragon) drags his words out is kind of obnoxious but ok I guess. And the actual audio quality is bad as you can tell by the sample. I recommend listening at 1.25 or 1.30 speed, as the narration is slow.

Fabulous

One of my favourite reads and the audio just added to it
The narrator was perfect for this book and I loved his voice for Bertie, it was how I read it in my head.
