Publisher's summary

Some people live their entire lives without changing their perspective. For Allison Dennis, all it takes is 180 seconds...

After a life spent bouncing from one foster home to the next, Allison is determined to keep others at arm's length. Adopted at 16, she knows better than to believe in the permanence of anything. But as she begins her third year in college, she finds it increasingly difficult to disappear into the white noise pouring from her earbuds.

One unsuspecting afternoon, Allison is roped into a social experiment just off campus. Suddenly, she finds herself in front of a crowd, forced to interact with a complete stranger for 180 seconds. Neither she, nor Esben Baylor, the dreamy social media star seated opposite her, is prepared for the outcome.

When time is called, the intensity of the experience overwhelms Allison and Esben in a way that unnerves and electrifies them both. With a push from her oldest friend, Allison embarks on a journey to find out if what she and Esben shared is the real thing - and if she can finally trust in herself, in others, and in love.

Heartwarming

I laughed. I cried. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it made me remember and re-embra e the "life is what you make of it" attitude.

Performance was enjoyable. The narrator had a pleasant, calming voice that added to the ambiance of this story.

The synopsis doesn't prepare you

for just how heartbreaking this book is, but in the absolutely best way. Whatever story I was expecting; just falls away and it hits straight from right field. This is such a good book. If you need to have your faith rekindled in love, both romantic and platonic, in the sheer goodness of humanity and the social internet, give this book a read. It is masterful.

Beautiful

Cute contemporary about college students which i love because how many contemporary books are about 15 year old having deep conversations and have wonderful meaningful sex with their one true love. College is the time for alcohol, experimentation and sex in books (and IRL) not freshman in high school.
Esben is virtually famous and goes to Allisons school. Allison had no idea who he was until after they kissed and ended up virtually famous as well. Allison wanted a normal college experience but handsome Esben ruined that.
It was really different from your usual contemporary but still really cute and fun, but it also delt with anxiety, isolation, cancer, rape, pain and depression and those pesky college problems.
I love Allisons foster dad and the care packages he sends their relationship makes me so happy.

"I could live off of amazon delivery and never leave the house" literally me when anyone asks if i leave my house.

Tears fall freely in this heart warming tale of empathy. I loved the way the story reflects on its self without going backwards.

The most interesting EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER I have ever heard!

What a trip! I laughed, I cried, I rejoiced in the Triumph of the human spirit and despaired at the vicious pettiness of the foolish and weak! Magnificent!

Social experiment

Letting go of the past in order to appreciate and move forward in the future. When a socially awkward girl meets the media sensation boy in a social experiment, she is given a new outlook on humanity.

Allison doesn’t trust many people having been in and out of the foster system. She allowed her past to define her. Then a wonderful man adopted her when she was fifteen turning her life around with love and support.

Esben is a social butterfly. He has a ton of followers on all social media platforms. He conducts social experiments and posts them on his media sites.

Narrator:
Arielle DeLisle is the female narrator who performed all the voices in 180 seconds. Arielle was stunning in her performance. I enjoyed each character’s tone and sound.
The audiobook quality had no outside disturbances and it was read work perfectly.
This is a revisit to a book that I read a few years back. When I saw this audiobook I knew I had to give it a try. I’m so pleased with my purchase. This has been an exceptional revisit to a story that was thought provoking and heartfelt.

Overall:
It’s a story filled with hope shedding light on the general population and their ability to be good. So much good takes place in this book. I thought you had me at the birthday party until you mentioned the dogs.

I loved the epicness of Esben using his social status to get Allison to California, but at the same time it was too unbelievable. I felt these obstacles went overboard and it became too exaggerated. I was all onboard until this point in the story.

A college aged romance with PG rated sex scenes thus being appropriate for young adult readers.
