Publisher's summary

After a fatal hit and run accident, Ella Monroe fears that she's lost more than her beloved parents. Horrifying visions of a past life and a disturbing voice in her head have psychiatric professionals convinced that she's lost her sanity as well. But when Kale - a dark and handsome stranger with a mysterious past - reveals the true meaning of her visions and the tremendous power she wields through them, Ella must come to terms with the devastating truths of her own past, while eluding an ancient Dark Prince who seeks to control not only her future, but all of mankind's, by means of abilities that Ella is only beginning to understand.

Enter the shrouded world of an age old battle between an ancient race known as the Immortals and their bitter enemy Laurent, the so-called Dark Prince, who commands an army of half-breed vampires known as Chorý. Both sides have been desperately searching for the prophesied emergence of the Arc, a clairvoyant with unparalleled power to recall the past and a soothsayer with clear vision into the future.

The Council of Immortals has sworn to protect the Arc, whom they have identified as young Ella Monroe, a college freshman from Virginia living quietly and unaware of her powers or her past. But a renegade Chorý has other plans for the protection of a girl he has loved through the ages. Can Kale convince Ella of who she is, what she is destined to become, and what he once meant to her? Is he truly the best protector to shield the world from the devastating misuse of her powers that Laurent is bent on controlling? Or will the forbidden love they share and Kale's cursed condition as a retched and hated Chory be used against them both?

This paranormal romance told from the heroine's perspective builds in intensity and intrigue to a finale you won't see coming. Heart pounding action mixed with heartwarming friendships and heartbreaking romance will leave you breathless and begging for more.

Like the story, hate the narrator

Narrator doesn’t seem to know when to pause or enunciate sentences. Boring! But I kind of like her accent of him although it’s all over the place. May start reading the books instead

Terrible editing, repeats sentences constantly

First off the narrator herself was okay.
The recording and editing was terrible. It repeated sentences throughout the whole recording. The pauses between chapters was extensive.
The story had so many flashbacks with different scenes and new people that it made it difficult to keep track of if it was present or past because there was nothing to differentiate between them.
It ended on a cliffhanger but I will not be getting the next book in audio version because it was so bad.
I wanted to stop part way in but a got a complimentary copy and personally felt I needed to hear it all before I left an honest opinion

Paranormal Series With Potential

What did you like best about Few Are Angels? What did you like least?

Kale is a classic tragic hero. I'm into the classic heroes. What I liked least is that there are confusion and unanswered questions and background information. Also this first book left me feeling un-sated. I'm hoping that the following books of the series will fill in the blanks

Would you recommend Few Are Angels to your friends? Why or why not?

I would to some one who likes this genre. It is not the best book of this genre however it is addictive and is interesting.

What aspect of Jelayna Rose’s performance would you have changed?

Her performance was fine.

Do you think Few Are Angels needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The book by its self was incomplete and a follow up is needed.

Any additional comments?

Ella is an Ark. An Ark is descended from the Dark Prince and there is only one Ark at a time. Each Ark is a reincarnation of the previous Arks. Arks are clairvoyant and the Dark Prince, an evil immortal uses Arks to increase his own power.

Ella a college student starts having visions after her parents die. Ella is placed into a psychiatric hospital because of these visions. After she is discharged she goes to live with friends of her parents.

These visions are like a homing beacon for the dark prince who wishes to exploit her. In a previous reincarnation Kale was her lover who tried to protect her. He failed and the Dark Prince killed the Ark and turned Kale into a half.vampire.

Kale along with Jace an immortal from the immortal council is trying to protect Ella. This is the background of the story. The reader is told very little about Jace. Alex is the son of the family whom Ella is staying with and a long time friend. He hasn't a clue about what is happening regarding Ella.

I feel like I was shown a spread for a feast, was given a couple of bites and that was it the story ends. The series does hold promise, however the first book could of had a more definite and complete end as well as more filled in blanks.

I am HOOKED

Would you listen to Few Are Angels again? Why?

Some parts and not the whole book. I don't listen to audiobooks again. I just buy new ones. Still, it is a good clean romance novel and I'd recommend it.

Good story but BAD editing

This was a decent story. However the editing was terrible! Throughout the ENTIRE book there were lines repeated that had not been edited out. The pacing of the narration would switch from normal to really fast, making it hard to understand what was happening at times. The narrator also needs to practice reading with better phrasing and fluency.

Curious about the next in series, but if it has the same issues, I won’t be finishing it.

Potential

Narration - Jelayna Rose - Really, really 'great potential' narrator...and really 'really bad' production!

This is a tough one...
First off, I absolutely loved this story. The blurb is pretty all inclusive, so start there.

This was really hard to get into at first, but it had nothing to do with the story and everything to do with the narration.

I will tell you that Jelayne has a terrific voice and I think she has the chops to become an exceptional narrator. Throughout, the narration was really fast and many times had hardly any emotion or inflection - or even breaks between sentences so it started to sound like a big long run-on sentence. The more I listened though, I believe part of that was a product of the "production" of the piece. The editing.

I think as she was doing new "takes" when the producer was putting them back together, they were also editing out those little pauses and spaces causing it to sound even faster and choppier than it really was - sounding like a really fast reader just reading in their head. On those times when you could tell she made it through a good section without having to re-record anything, she sounded really good.

Her male voice for Kale is buttery and sexy and at a nice pace. But darlin' slow down, tell me a story, use your beautiful voice to its fullest with all the inflections and emotions (OH! But when a character yells? Back away from the mic).

The other main issue to cause me to declare this a great book, but bad audiobook is that there are probably more than 40 production errors where we get to hear the same 'take' twice or even three times. The producer missed them completely.

The sound volume fluctuates quite a bit, and later in the book when she portrays some real emotion, you can actually hear the mic topping out cause it just can't take no more. *begs for her to back away from the mic when raising voice*

So I listened to this with a lot of mixed emotions as I found myself really enjoying the story, the characters and (for the most part) the way she portrayed them I just had to grimace and deal with the poor production quality.

I think Jelayna is probably the perfect candidate to complete the rest of this series (but please slow down and tell the story), and the future of this series definitely needs better editing and production.

Will I continue the series? Absolutely! I'm loving the story, the premise and dying to find out how this all comes out!

Will I continue with audiobook format?

Hmmmm.... We'll see...

NARRATION AND EDITING RUINED THIS..PLUS NO ACTION!

Would you try another book from Inger Iversen and/or Jelayna Rose?

Probably No...

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Lame..

What three words best describe Jelayna Rose’s performance?

Really Needs Improvement!

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No..well maybe...if they added some action in..interesting concept...but the story is dull...

Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

I wanted to like this, and I didn't hate i...but the editing was the most awful editing in any audio book ever! I have listened to over 400 books so I consider myself fairly knowledgeable on this...every chapter there is mistakes...repeat words, and whole sentences....this narrator must be new...because she is more of a reader, then a narrator...lots of run on sentences...and too fast in some parts...The story itself could of been really really great...but nothing happens till almost the ending...the past lives were not fully explored or explained...its just a weak story with a strong concept...I will not continue this series...and I do not recommend it.....overall really a 2.5....I hate leaving bad reviews, because I normally like everything but this is just not goo and I had to force myself to finish it......
