Publisher's Summary

Someone, somewhere, has declared war on Kevin Kichida, and that someone has a long list of magical predators in their Rolodex. The good news is that Kevin lives in a town where Ted Cahill is the new sheriff and old ally of John Charming. The attacks on Kevin seem to be a pattern, and the more John and his new team follow that thread, the deeper they find themselves in a maze of supernatural threats, family secrets, and age-old betrayals. The more John learns, the more convinced he becomes that Kevin Kichida isn't just a victim - he's a sacrifice waiting to happen. And that thread John's following? It's really a fuse....

Good Series ...Great Narration

Any additional comments?

The story rolled right along and was worth the listen, but IMHO not quite as good as the previous installment. I thought the character development was more revealing, the humor not quite as good, and the story lines good, but not great. I really enjoy the narration and main character, the snarkier the better. Sig's character is really explored and I did find myself liking her better. Really good series, wish people would quit comparing everything in this genre to Dresden Files, one of my all time favorites and definitely a gold standard, but this series is good enough to stand on it's own.

Awesome series.

The only issue I have had is the volume level goes up and down. This makes it very hard to hear some parts without turning the volume up. Then the level goes back up and blows your ears out

Brilliant, Witty, and Real - Perfect Story!!!

After hanging out with these characters in the last 2 books, It was awesome to listen to them all come together. The story was unique and interesting, The action, plot, and movement was fast paced and dynamic. I loved how it was centered around Japanese legends and folklore, a departure from what we usually hear in urban fantasy. Never saw the ending coming the way it did and it was a flawless execution. You are truly transported to a different world right along with the characters. The best part, I laughed through the entire book. The comedy, the comedy, the comedy - Loved It!

I'm Hooked.

I'm not too much into werewolves and vampires; I mean, it's all been done so much so that I thought no new twist could make it (for lack of a better word) fresh. I'm excited to admit that I was wrong and that the Pax Arcana series has me hooked and looking for more, especially since they keep getting better with every installment.

Now to the narrator, Roger Wayne. He's a perfect fit and has brought all the characters to life for me - I just wish that he was given the correct Japanese pronunciations. Then again, I can't think of any other narrator that has gotten them correct so far, either.

Absolutely Loved This Story!!!

Any additional comments?

There was just so much right with this story.

1. John and Sig finally have some insight on themselves as a couple, and surprisingly we've moved past John physical fixation on her to something that is real and a lot more less shallow.

2. The Japanese Legend twist to the story was unique for me and greatly appreciated.

3. I loved that the person to protect wasn't didn't turn out to be a female. It's usually about the damsel in distress so this was refreshing that it didn't turn out to be that at all.

4. I loved the different type of myths, legends, and shapeshifters that was integrated into the story. Honestly, the Jinn really had me interested and I wanted so much more about her but I truly loved the Japanese tale. Very creatively written and of course the narrator was amazing to bring it to life.

5. Roger Wayne! His narration, character for John in this story had me crushing on John. It was a mixture of his layer back personality that came through his voice that was appealing in this story.

6. For those not as physically attracted to women, you still have to put up with every other woman being described in great detail about how perfect, beautiful, hot every aspect of their body is and of course there are never any hot or attractive men, but it wasn't as annoying as it was in book 1 and 2.

7. An amazing and diverse cast of characters, shifters, and legends in this story truly brought the entertaining factor to an all time high. And, with an incredibly talented narrator like Roger Wayne (jeez, that name just reminds me of a cowboy!) whose outstanding performance brought the story to life for me, I'd say this audio is worth more than 5 stars on the entertainment scale!

I definitely recommend this!

Wonderful as usual...

But being totally nit picky... Why would you change the voice of the "heroine" of the story... Sig has the best voice I the first 2 books, then the 3rd... Ugh!!! Otherwise a great fun monster hunting book... With moments of absolute yet charming philosophy that's brilliant....

Not the best book in the series

Not my favorite of the series. I liked it better when John was on his own. I'm not crazy about the characters in his group. Too much angst all around.

WOW.WOW.WOW

Any additional comments?

These stories really do keep getting better and better. The story is unbelievably good and the narration is fabulous!! Books that I can't put down (or stop listening to) are farther in between, but this whole series is a hard to stop listening to. I can't wait for the next one. Thank You Elliott and Roger!

Awesome! J. Charming & Sig May be top 3 in Genre

Elliot James is Really Top Notch writing and with only his 3rd book under his hat in this specific story line, the story of John Charming and Sig the 6 foot blonde Valkery may be as good as Butcher's Dresden or better on 3rd book.

I really enjoyed book number one and hoped Mr. Elliot would run with this story and he delivered better than I expected with almost too much information on Sci-fi Fantasy (older) truly researched monster's in any College Library, especially in Japan on this book.
I truly enjoy the Sarcasm and Humor with great banter between original characters. I actually Laughed my soft drink up a couple of times and really enjoyed video game spy sittings (no spoilers).
I feel stronger about this story line after the 3rd book and I was sold after book 1; These books are wonderfully written, the characters are pretty solid, some more than others but the quick and witty sarcasm is beautifully written and James Really did his homework on this one.

If this is your genre and you are Not under 18 then this is for you, You will love it! but the language is definitely Adult but not Adult situation except for the violence.

Great Writing and even better Narrator

Because of this series I have become a huge fan of this Narrator, In any series the Narration is so important from making a story suck to making it enjoyable. To me Roger Wayne is top notch, and does the main character perfectly, as well as all the others. This has become one my all time favorite series. I look forward to the rest.
