Publisher's summary

The inside story on President Trump, as only Bob Woodward can tell it

With authoritative reporting honed through eight presidencies from Nixon to Obama, author Bob Woodward reveals in unprecedented detail the harrowing life inside President Donald Trump’s White House and precisely how he makes decisions on major foreign and domestic policies.

Woodward draws from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand sources, meeting notes, personal diaries, files, and documents. The focus is on the explosive debates and the decision-making in the Oval Office, the Situation Room, Air Force One, and the White House residence.

Fear is the most intimate portrait of a sitting president ever published during the president’s first years in office.

Love the country not the party

I have followed Bob Woodward and read all his books he is honest and very well respected. Fear is truly what most of us in America knew that this White House and administration is doing and small part of us wished we were wrong. Wake up America before it’s too late. Love your country not your party.

An excellent book on a terrible subject

The most horrible thing this book does isn't pull back the curtain to show the man pretending to be Oz, the thing this book does is point out that the curtain was transparent all along.

Spoilers below:

The president is transparently incapable of self reflection and incredibly stupid. He's a petty, self absorbed, self aggrandizing idiot with delusions of grandeur. Through his actions he has brought the US to the brink repeatedly, and it's only a matter of time before he goes too far too fast for someone with some sense to grab the wheel.

Good luck folks, we're going to need it.

trump

I initially thought the book would just trash Trump. However , there were some pointed questions about James Comey's presentation of the dossier on Trump amorous affairs.
Next, you are who you hang with and it appears there are many with whom President Trump hung out that have their own personal agendas.
The shame of this whole situation is someone not having a healthy fear or respect of the office of the Presidency. President Trump has said none. Whenever I take a new job, even if know the job, there is a healthy fear. Healthy fear is mandatory for assessing a job and working in the job.
praying for our president.

Shocking. Not really, but still... SHOCKING.

This man, Trump, is destined for the trash heap of history as the WORST and most corrupt President in history. This book is scary because it ISN'T gossip or trashy details... it's frighteningly real. The author has the credibility that the Trump administration completely lacks.

Highly informative, jaw-dropping

Reads fast and smooth, like a caper novel with tons of information about how international business & government relationships interweave, with the potential for one decision to trigger consequences that can't be covered in headlines and short articles. The KORUS story alone is harrowing (about our trade agreements with South Korea). That some of the details aren't surprising make them no less horrifying: DT's lack of memory, inability to learn, incuriosity, bad memory, missing focus, and incivility. When described to Woodward by people who were in the room, especially, when most of these same people were one-time admirers, it's all quite vivid. Anyone interested in leadership, duty, ethics, democracy or history would find this book illuminating.

The President of the United states is an idiot.

not surprised by any of this, he is a TV guy, not a leader of the free world.

Changed the way I viewed the White House

Changed the way I viewed the White House and the Trump presidency. It's very factual and we'll organized. Definitely worth a read or listen.
