A famed preacher, professor, and cultural anthropologist reveals the cancer of woke theology that has permeated seminaries and that threatens the evangelical church itself. Plus a call to all Christian congregations to eschew the lure of critical theory and hold to the path of an individual relationship with God.

We are standing on shaky ground.

As a wave of violent riots protesting the death of a black man at the hands of police shook the nation in the summer of 2020, most Americans were shocked. Christians nationwide, eager to fulfill their God-given calling to bring peace and reconciliation, took to pulpits and social media in droves to affirm that “black lives matter” and proclaim that racial justice “is a gospel issue.”

But what if those Christians, those ministers, and those powerful ministries don’t know the whole story behind the new movement that’s been making waves in their congregations? Even worse: What if they’ve been duped into adopting a set of ideas that not only don’t align with the Kingdom of God, but stand diametrically opposed to it?

In this powerful audiobook, pastor, professor, and leading cultural apologist Voddie Baucham explains the sinister worldview behind the social justice movement and how it has quietly spread like a fault system, not only through our culture, but throughout the evangelical church in America. He also details the devastation it is already wreaking—and what we can do to get back on solid ground before it’s too late.

Whether you’re a layperson who feels like you’ve just woken up in a strange new world and wonder how to engage both sensitively and effectively in the conversation on race, or a pastor who’s wondering how to deal with increasingly polarized factions within your congregation, this audiobook will provide the clarity and understanding you need to either hold your ground, or reclaim it.

Voddie Baucham uses multiple sources and a scriptural basis for critiquing the current racial tensions and push for "social justice" (especially in the West, the US in particular) and compares it fairly and balanced with compassion with what the Bible says. This was very informative and educational.

Fair and balanced view of race and wokeness

I’m a fan of Dr Baucham, I love family driven faith, and expository Apologetics is a valued treasure in my personal library, even my answer as to why I chose to believe the Bible, I got from him- I love Dr. Baucham and have the upmost respect for him.

With all that said- this book will allow those, who are comfortable doing what makes them comfortable, to feel validated. No one can argue that many avenues satan will attempt to utilize in this war against the church, and we all know he can present himself as an angel of light- but to rail against people of faith that are attempting to reach folks that have been largely ignored is something I don’t understand.

As always, the exegesis is on point- my beef is with the lack of alternatives courses of action. I’m an Urban Apologist- we systematized Theological concepts, why not systematize apologetic segments as well- and the Urban areas are fighting against Black Religious Identity Cults (Hebrews Israelites, kemetics, etc) and to a lot of Americans- these issues aren’t even a blip on the radar, which is fine- but If your going to call out Shai Linne & Dr. Eric Mason- use more than social media post- Linne has been on the front lines in Christian Hip hop for years, a area Dr. Baucham doesn’t think highly of but I digress… And it’s obvious that he didn’t read Dr. Mason book: Woke Church, to say what he says about him… in fact in this very book he admits to abandoning people that look like him… all due respect Dr. Baucham- YOU COULD HAVE FED ALL OF US! I could only imagine how much quicker this prosperity gospel trash would have been laid to rest if you had been around…

It’s no question that the Reformed crowd loves Christ & theology- and the church is better for it; however the part that you Reformist seem to miss, is after all the exegesis, after all the Greek, after all the textual critiques, after all that study - we still have to go out and deal wit people right where they are and be able to relate and emphasize with them. I’m not saying champion hardship, I’m not saying validate sin, I am saying to preach a word that will strike the heart in order to bring forth repentance after experiencing conviction… but u first must reach them in order to do that…I’m just saying eventually, you guys got to come out of the halls of academia and join us on the block to see this ish up close… rather than attack our efforts, offer alternatives- not just scriptures that we’re already well aware of.

Peace & blessings to all Gods Children.

I am in that group of Christian evangelicals in ministry who immediately saw the increased threat of BLM, SJ Christianity and intersectionality on the church. it's a great book that helps with the apologetic towards those who preach that these are part of the church. it showed me the errors of though in my denomination and gave new meaning to Mark 13:22. Voddie, I am forever indebted to you.....this is the most important book I have ever read other than the Bible.

Great Great Book for a Very Narrow Group

Dr Baucham does a great job defining Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality within the Church. I appreciate all the scriptural references. This book has helped me see the current issues within the church more clearly.

Great explanation of current Church problems.
