Publisher's Summary

Father Hunger is a thoughtful and timely excursion into our culture of fatherlessness, what Wilson calls “the central malady of our time.” Central because it is the cause of so many of the ills we face - everything from atheism and crime to joyless feminism and paternalistic government expansion - but most important because of the effect it has on families, children, wives, and husbands. Bottom line: when fathers are checked out, left out, or ruled out, it hurts literally everyone. We need our fathers, and all too often they are nowhere present. Father Hunger has one basic goal: to encourage and empower men to be the fathers that God calls them to be and that their families and culture desperately need them to be.

Great read.

This is another good book about fathers from Doug Wilson. Full of solid biblical advice and as always Wilson always leaves you wondering why couldn’t I say it that way?

Great book for new Fathers

As a new father and christian I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was practical, poignant, and grounded. It cleared up alot of misconceptions I had about being a father who lives for Christ. Looking forward to listening and reading Doug Wilson's books.

A real look at being a Christian father

This book is very truthful and straight to the point. It is humbling and encouraging. It really lets you appreciate the honor god has bestowed on us men to be able to be fathers. I recommend this for husbands and wives, mothers and fathers.

Wilson skillfully exposes the need of the Hour for Dads and for the Land at Large.

Wilson skillfully exposes the need of the Hour for Dads and for the Land at Large. His wit and wisdom are memorable; his pokes and well intended jabs are on target. I say this is one of the most remarkable books ever written for Dads and sons. I have walked through it at least 5 times and it is a must for Father's Day. Do yourself a big favor… shut up and listen. Wilson has something to say that we need hear and heed.

Not what expected

I was recommended this book by my sister who said it was a good book about the role of fathers. Although it did have some good ideas, most of the book felt like the author sharing his religious theology rather than counseling on fatherhood.
