Publisher's summary

Fatal Vision is the electrifying true story of Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald, the handsome, Princeton-educated physician convicted of savagely slaying his young pregnant wife and two small children, murders he vehemently denies committing.

Best-selling author Joe McGinniss chronicles every aspect of this horrifying and intricate crime and probes the life and psyche of the magnetic, all-American Jeffrey MacDonald, a golden boy who seemed destined to have it all. The result is a penetration to the heart of darkness that enshrouded one of the most complex criminal cases ever to capture the attention of the American public. It is a haunting, stunningly suspenseful work that no listener will be able to forget.

Classic True Crime

I think this book is the one all other true crime stories are measured by. When you first look into buying it, it seems that it would be waaay too long at 27+ hours, and perhaps there would be too much flabby filler. However, you actually do need the WHOLE story to come out, and this book genuinely does deliver with page-turning interest all the way to the end. I listen during my hour-long drive to and from work, and found that I sometimes lingered just to hear the end of a chapter. If you enjoy true crime and haven’t stumbled across this one yet, I promise this book is certainly worth the credit.

Wow! Just wow.

Absolutely unimaginable that a man this smart and with what appears to be a perfect life would/could do this to his family, his flesh and blood. Not does he just kill him but the rage that was inside him to just repeatedly stab them.
And shame on the military for screwing up all the evidence that allowed him to go untouched for so many years and even then he did not get what he deserved. Pretty infuriating!

deep as it gets

This tragedy unfolds then appears to take twists and turns moving forward. The author produced a stunning account from beginning to end

Excellent Book with one caveat

Everything about it is great except the chapters “Jefferey McDonald’s Voice”, those are unnecessary and unbearable to listen to.

A MUST READ

Excellent! Blackburn's final argument was absolutely outstanding. The reader is left with haunting memories of the victims' precious, short lives and their horrid demise at the hands of their most trusted protector.
