Publisher's Summary
Every family has its secrets….
As the first anniversary of her marriage to Vice President Nick Cappuano approaches, Lieutenant Sam Holland is dreaming of Bora Bora - sun, sand, and a desperately needed break from the DC grind. But real life has a way of intervening, and Sam soon finds herself taking on one of the most perplexing cases of her career.
Government worker Josh Hamilton begs Sam to investigate his shocking claim that his parents stole him from another family 30 years ago. More complicated still, his "father" is none other than the FBI director. When a member of Josh's family is brutally murdered, Sam begins to question how deep this cover-up goes. Is it possible the revered director was part of a baby-napping ring and that others involved are also targets?
With a killer intent on deadly revenge and her team still reeling from a devastating loss, Sam's plate is full - and when Nick and their son, Scotty, take ill, is her dream of a tropical anniversary celebration in peril, too?

Another Good Installment To The Series
Marie Force continues to show her brilliance in Fatal Identity. She not only continues this fantastic series by catching you up with all the memorable characters in this magnificent world she has created, she continues to propel several story-lines at once all within this book. Marie's uncanny ability to develop characters and plots that will blow your mind is commendable.
In this book, Lieutenant Sam Holland and her team are attempting to recover from the loss of one of their own. Not only is she trying to juggle her job as a homicide detective, being the Second Lady, a wife and a mom, Sam is also facing possible charges for her actions against Ramsey.
As a result of her actions with Ramsey, she has been put on suspension. But knowing Sam, nothing will keep her down. Just as she is about to leave, she is approached by Josh Hamilton, the director of the FBI's son about a possible kidnapping case. If it is legit, it could be the case of a lifetime.
This book is filled with suspense. There are many twists and turns that kept me burning through the pages. Marie Force does a fantastic job of developing characters as they cope with loss, and go through hardships and experience the trials and tribulations of their difficult job. Each book she writes makes me fall more in love with the world she has created in this Fatal series! I can't wait to read more!

Really a let down
I am a huge fan of the fatal series- it is one of my favorites and Nick and Sam are among my top couples in literature. Perhaps this is why I feel so let down. The murder plot became boring to me almost instantly. I found myself forwarding through the audiobook. The romance between Nick and Sam also fell short. I am not sure what the intention is of Agent Hill's inappropriate crush on Sam other than making Nick jealous. That signals to me that the story might be running out of true substance. I hated the flu plot. For some reason I only like it when Nick dotes on Sam, but when he falls ill it was just like another day of me being a mom and wife!-I admit, guilty pleasure of escapism through reading stories of man caring for woman. I hope the future brings more Sam drama, ER trips, pregnancy, etc. The final thing that did not work for me was the secondary character stories. There were just too many things going on with everyone at one time, but I really wasn't in to exploring any of those. For example, I love Hill, but Shelby acts like a fluzy (and is portrayed as a glorified nanny,) and she is supposed to capture the amazing Hill (who seems uber sexy) and we are supposed to believe that? Meanwhile we are told he can't get over Sam. Why not make Shelby super cool? The Gonzo PTSD thing was too much for me-a big downer. All in all, this installment could easily be skipped.

falls short...
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The story has to be more believable - Sam was pushing it a bit. I do find her character is becoming too obnoxious. I also don"t believe that anyone takes the role of vice-president too-seriously - seems more like a hobby.
Has Fatal Identity turned you off from other books in this genre?
no
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Felicity Munroe?
I like the narrator. She is now the voice of the Fatal series for me.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Sure it does - i like how the supporting characters roles are evolving.
Any additional comments?
I still look forward to the next book in the Fatal series.

I've Seen It All....
Wow, indeed, wow, Seriously, yowza. I have seen and read every scenario, all kinds of perverted, but this story is seriously whacked. The FBI director and his deputy being and doing what they did is really mind boggling. As if child abduction is not enough, they have to add that? Marie Force never seizes to amaze me. I don't know who my favorite character is anymore, Sam or Eve of the 'In Death' series by JD Robb. It is a toss up right now.The whole gang is here, and their personal lives is okay and nobody died. Thank God for that. The previous book was hard because of the loss of Gonzo's partner. He is yet to fully recover from that loss . So, long story short? Another winner.

Another fantastic story
First off, keep this narrator. She does the best voices . Everytine you switch to the other, the characters voices loose their southern drawl or accents since the beginning of the series. Really noticeable, when book 9 narrator reads the series.
As usual another great, out of this realm story, that concludes nicely in the end.
Hope again, the series doesn't end at book 11.
Sincerely, a fan.

The Harder He Hits Me the More He Must Love Me
In this otherwise engaging novel, the author inserts snippets of domestic abuse into Sam & Nick's supposedly loving relationship. This subtle attempt to convince women that our gender deserves to be beaten and abused is insulting to all intelligent women.
In the first 4 books of this series, I loved how Nick admired Sam's strengths and accepted her flaws. Likewise, I totally bonded with Sam, who was bold, smart and assertive with a heart of gold under her gruff demeanor. In book 5, when Sam suddenly turned passive & pathetic and Nick morphed into an alpha jerk, I wanted to cry from frustration.
Each time a new book is released I hope that Marie Force has jumped off the sadistic FSOG bandwagon and brought back the original loving Nick who would NEVER hit or humiliate Sam. It's laughable that original kick-ass Sam would ALLOW a man to hit her without kicking him in the balls and arresting him for assault & battery.
Since this author is incredibly talented and capable of writing entertaining books that don't promote violence against other women, I am baffled as to why she is stooping so low. I am honestly afraid that books romanticizing sexual violence are dangerous. How many naïve gals are brainwashed into thinking "the harder he hits me the more he must love me".
FYI, Spanking is hitting, a deliberate act intended to inflict pain, humiliation, and fear. Does anyone imagine that a sane man would enjoy being struck in his genitals?

GREAT STORY ~ BUT...
This was a great story BUT it is extremely difficult to go from listening to Eva Kaminsky to the immature voice of Felicity Munroe. No series should roam from one narrator to another. A narrator becomes the voice of specific characters and IMO it hurts the series when changed frequently. Felicity Munroe has a child's voice and it drives me crazy. What's with Kaminsky's "Ellen" and Munroe's "Eland". It's the same character! The greatness of the story is the only thing that keeps me engaged and wanting more. The voice of Felicity Munroe would stop me from starting any other series with her as the narrator but I have no choice but to continue this series. It's THAT good!
