Publisher's Summary

Washington, D.C., Metro Police Detective Sergeant Sam Holland needs a big win to salvage her career - and her confidence - after a disastrous investigation. The perfect opportunity arises when Senator John O’Connor is found brutally murdered in his bed, and Sam is assigned to the case. Matters get complicated when Sam has to team up with Nick Cappuano, O’Connor’s friend and chief of staff...and the man Sam had a memorable one-night stand with years earlier. Their sexual chemistry still sizzles, and Sam has to fight to stay focused on the case. Sleeping with a material witness is another mistake she can’t afford - especially when the bodies keep piling up.

Great Story

I would have given it 5 stars but the reader is HORRIBLE! The author is one of my new favorites.

Great Story but....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the BOOK, not so much the audiobook if one can help it. The story was great but the narrator totally killed it for me.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

the narrator wasn't bad, I just think she was more suited for YA novels. Some of the more adult scenes read by her was a bit unsettling as she has a more youthful voice.

So Good I Bought the Whole Series!!

I listened to this book because the description captured my interest. It was the best decision I could have made. The narrator and story line were good, but the characters were wonderful. Sam and Nick reminded me of Dallas and Rourke from J.D. Robb's prolific Death series. I was so taken with this first book that I immediately purchased the whole series and listened to them all in three days. Now I can't wait for the next one; I really really hope this series continues.

Good in Spots

After reading the reviews my expectations for this book were high. At times it delivered. I had several problems with the story however. First I have never read a book about today's world where police officers had the amount of power Sam and her colleagues did. Second an investigating officer sleeping with someone involved in an investigation? The level of romance in his book seemed to be preponderantly heavy vis a vis the amount of police work. though the book had it's moments it isn't one I can recommend.

Loved it!~

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

After finishing Safe Haven, I had a really hard time finding something else to listen too, stumbled upon this one, and I love it, almost as much. Didn't even realize this was a series, sooo excited.

What does Felicity Munroe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have returned 2 previous books by other narrators, just couldnt get past them. She did an excellent job. Made the book.

Light hearted and enjoyable

Fatal Affair is truly an enjoyable light read. Marie Force does a wonderful job with the character development. I love Sam, Nick and Freddie! The story line is truly fictional with Nick and Sam having an inappropriate relationship for a witness/investigator, not to mention the willingness of fellow officers to overlook the ethical issues or this relationship. But the storyline is one you want to believe is plausible - the characters are just so compelling. Well deserved 5 stars.

Wow...a must read....read them in order!

I am a long time audio book listener. This is my first review. I am very impressed. It is easy to love the two main characters. There is a wonderful story, a family you can believe, "family values" that are real and have been tested. There is love, romance and some wonderful sex. It is a full service story. Marie Force seems to be a relatively new author and I predict we will see a lot of her soon.
I hope she keeps Sam and Nick around for a very long time. I am hooked.
Read them in order.

A New Author for Me.

A fantastic first book in a new series. The opening chapter hooks one immediately and doesn't let go till the end.
Even though I guessed early on who the perpetrator may be it still was a very good finish.
Give this book a read, a lil gruesome in certain areas but that adds to the mystique of the finish.

Entertaining

Marie Force is a new author to me so I was unsure of what to expect. I usually stick with U.K./Ireland police books but the premise of a Senator being murdered and a female detective sergeant caught my interest. I'm glad I discovered this.

The two lead characters are interesting and people I want to read more of. The narrator grew on me. I didn't care for her at first but I soon forgot all about that. There were multiple storylines going on here and that worked out okay. I really didn't figure out who the murderer was until Sam did. I love it when we're kept guessing.

I look forward to the next book to see how Sam and Nick are getting on.

Great new series

As another reviewer mentioned, this series reminded me of the In Death series by J.D. Robb. There are some of the same elements except one is what might be considered present day and the other is in the future. As with the In Death series you'll probably want to listen to them in order to get the developing relationship between Sam and Nick.

Sam is a police officer who is investigating the death of a Senator. Nick was the Senator's Chief of Staff. They had met once years before but hadn't seen each other since although they had thought about each other. All of the characters are well developed and add to the story. The mystery of whodunit was well crafted and kept you guessing to almost the very end with all the twists and turns.

When I first started the book I hadn't realized it was a series. Since I'm sort of a series person it was a nice surprise.

Exceptional

A well written story, that keeps you interested until the end. It makes a change to read a romance novel with a real story behind it - well done Marie, although I have read all your books, this series is a really one of your best.

A great Affair

Would you consider the audio edition of Fatal Affair to be better than the print version?

Nowhere near better than the print version....lol sorry, while I usually love audios and I do I am struggling with this series because there are a lot of mistakes throughout the narration which makes them distracting from the story.

What about Felicity Munroe’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed Felicity's narration better than the prequel, but still not the best.
