Publisher's summary

Being the middle son is never easy, especially when your brothers are perfect. T.K. is 14 and has a true talent for getting into trouble. He tries to keep his temper under control, but it’s a difficult task with so many freaking jerks around. T.K. feels like his life has been flushed down the toilet, but soon he’s able to join the football team, and then there’s Finn, the hottie newly hired to help out on the farm. T.K. believes he might finally be happy, but when he spots a blond angel, he realizes he didn’t know what happiness means.

When Ethan and Nathan were young, they took in a boy and raised him as their son, but now they’re in their 50s and are taking on not one boy, but three. Are they in over their heads, or can they succeed as dads once again? They’re determined to do their best, but three boys are a challenge that may be beyond them.

Sweet, Fun Read

A very sweet story about finding family, love, and acceptance. I'm consistently surprised by how moving and enjoyable I find these YA books. I love the narrator - beautiful voice and great detail in breathing life into characters.

Needs a plot

I have read a number of Marks books. He’s a good writer. This one could have used an actual plot. As it is it’s more of and extended epilogue without an actual novel. A bunch of great, well developed characters to which nothing actually happens

A “young” Young Adult novel

I enjoyed this book, however it is set with the protagonist in high school. So, he’s quite young and the writing of the book speaks to this aged reader mostly. Some very sweet story lines, and there is no question of who is gay, discrimination, etc. People are just gay, straight, trans, whatever. A good message for young people and the way a story should be. A sweet story of family, loss, young love, young discovery. It throws in a bit of mystical near the end, which I couldn’t understand why. Nothing wrong with some mystical, but it just came and went and didn’t hold too much weight, but just took time. The narrator’s voice was really nice, but he read so slowly and hardly ever changed the meter even with scenes that could have used a little more speed or energy. All in all, I enjoyed the book, but was anxious for it to be finished. A little older YA novel is more my speed, as the language is a little more direct. This book was nicely careful with sexual parts and the language used. Makes sense considering the best age of reader for this book.

A great listen

This story was beautifully written. I know what it's like to lose your mom. It's the hardest thing to do. But to lose your mom much sooner than you should has to be beyond devastating. This kind of loss was brought about in a heartfelt and realistic way by Mark Roeder. This story was very touching and sweet. Once again, Jerry Bradshaw's narrative was on point!

This is not a good book.

Very hard to follow at the beginning. A lot of this person “said” and that person “said.” Poorly written and narrated.

Nice try

I think this book is meant to put you to sleep. It’s a fifth grader read. Very juvenile. The author didn’t use “big” words. It’s tedious and boring. I tried to make it to the end but couldn’t. I will never get another book by this author.
