"La Contessa Serbelloni Mazzanti Vien dal Mare inaugurava la sua nuova villa sull'appia antica un giovedì sera.
Aveva in questo modo evitato la banalità di un party al sabato. Anche così la Contessa aveva saputo distinguersi, dando un'altra prova di essere una delle più degne rappresentanti del jet-set della città.
Anche Fantozzi fu invitato alla serata. La Contessa aveva una fortissima partecipazione azionaria nella ditta per la quale lui lavorava e con finto spirito democratico invitava sempre molti disperati dipendenti di basso grado per umiliarli con il lusso di questi grossi avvenimenti mondani.
Ci saranno stati circa 300 invitati: esponenti del mondo dell'industria, del teatro, del cinema, della televisione, giocatori di calcio e belle donne. Fantozzi si presentò col suo tragico spigato siberiano. Aveva bevuto imprudentemente in apertura di serata tre cocktail violentissimi, che poi si rivelarono tre pozioni micidiali per inquinare la sua lucidità mentale. Sudava come un orso, non riusciva a stringere la mano dei presenti senza che questa gli schizzasse via come una trota.
Quando fu pronta la cena in piedi, la casa fu invasa da un ventina di camerieri avventizi, di cui 2 nani. Servivano brutalmente un risotto lavico e riempivano con disprezzo bicchieri di vino di seconda categoria."

Questo libro è dedicato a Paolo Villaggio e al suo delizioso ragionier Fantozzi. Il suo libro era l'unico esemplare esistente in manicomio. Lo leggemmo per anni e anni e lo imparammo a memoria, e qualche malato riuscì a sopravvivere grazie alle risate. È chiaro che quando vidi la Biblioteca Ambrosiana scappai a gambe levate, ricordando il povero ragionier Filini.
