Publisher's Summary

Jax

Buried,

By my family's fame.

Dying to escape the limelight,

And finally, I do.

Being raised as a Jayne, I'm under constant scrutiny. The rock band my brothers formed makes it impossible to stay under the radar. Paparazzi, tabloids, rabid fans - you name it and I've got it. It all makes me sick. But getting shipped off to crazy Aunt Betty's house in my senior year of high school isn't any better. After all, there isn't a stray kid or pet in the world that my aunt wouldn't take in.

Then I meet her. She's cautious, suspicious, and not interested in me at all. But that's fine by me. Sivan Holt may be beautiful and intelligent, but she's nothing I'm looking for.

Sivan

Drowning,

In my past.

Struggling to feel settled.

And finally, I do.

Growing up in the foster care system, I longed for a sense of belonging. All I wanted was a place to call home.

At the age of 17, I'm finally starting to feel it here. Home.

When he comes along, it unsettles me. I don't want him to ruin everything we've built - everything that matters. Jax Jayne is arrogant, privileged, and I want nothing to do with him. But those green eyes of his keep drawing me in. If I let down my walls, will it be my final undoing?

riveting piece!!!

This is my first fictional audiobook and I’m almost speechless! It was an exceptional book that made me contemplate on love and life. MK came up with characters that have their own interesting personalities that will endear every reader. I’ll surely be checking out her other best-selling books.

Not for me

I tried to get through this story. Not sure it was the right story for narrator or the story itself. Will try to read the book without narration.

decent story, narrator was distracting

The story was decent, maybe better than decent with a different narrator. Narrator added unnecessary and annoying sounds. Tons of loud and dramatic wailing and plenty of distracting sighs and inhalations. I appreciate the effort in trying to bring life to the narration but it was overkill. And yet, when not ad libbing obnoxious sound effects, her narration fell flat and lifeless. Her female voices were alright, masculine voices were not great.

Will Secrets Heal or Destroy?

Sivan was deeply traumatized and couldn't talk about it with anyone. What happens when she joins Aunt Betty's family?

What happens when she meets Jax? Why doesn't he want to be in his brother's band? What does he want to do with his life? Why does he pretend not to like Sivan?

I don't usually listen to YA books (Young Adults) however I decided to give it a chance. oh my word, this story ran the gauntlet of feelings for me.

there was a part that had me crying like a baby! I think you will too when you get this amazing book and read or listen to it yourself.

I highly recommend this book to everyone, its that good!
The narrator was wonderful too, she read the emotions as if it were happening to her.

Fantastic book!

Where does Famous by Default rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I rank this quite high among books I have listened to for the story and the narrators ability to make the characters sound very different.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Jax. I loved his big heart and his ability to see past what someone looks like. Since his brothers were so famous and he was stuck in the limelight, it would have been easy to fall into a lifestyle where his morals and values were poor. Instead, he wanted a totally different life for himself.

What does Tiffany Marz bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The ability to pronounce the names that I may not have known. Also the emotion associated with a very emotional story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to but I am unable to do that. Instead I got to look forward to listening daily.

Any additional comments?

I don't know if this is a series but I would love to hear more about the Jane brothers.

Excellent Listen

This was a great book with great narration. I loved listening to this book and Tiffany Marz was fantastic to listen to. I also liked her doing the voice of Jax, it really made his character that much more likable. Tiffany Marz does a great job evoking the characters emotions in feelings when she's narrating. I swear she had me in tears at the end when Sivan broke down. It may have been a tad bit much for me, although I think some of that had to do with how fast I had her speaking. But it had me balling in my car nonetheless. MK Harkins wrote a fantastic story. Jax and Sivan are great characters. Their relationship was very sweet with lots of funny banter and cute romantic moments. Definitely worth listening to.

Emotional YA listen

Loved this! This story deals with many tough subjects and really pulls on the heart strings, be prepared to laugh, cry, and learn to love with Sivan and Jax. The narrator did a phenomenal job, you can tell she really poured her emotions into this reading. I highly recommend this one, just make sure to keep some tissues handy. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
