Betrayal and Battles

What made the experience of listening to Family: The Girl in the Box, Book 4 the most enjoyable?

This book had a lot of twists. It made the plot unpredictable. The reader never knew what would happen next. The plot and characters were built upon more than in 1, 2, and 3. The books series is unusual and different from other books that I have listened to and read, but not so weird that you lose interest in the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sienna, the girl in the box. It is because she is the character that was most developed in this story, and the character that the plots are built around.

Have you listened to any of Annie Sullivan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

About the same. Annie Sullivan delivers a very professional read of the story. Her reading adds an emotional content that you would not gain from just reading.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, but it was an interesting story. I had fun listening to it. I look forward to book 5 when Audible.com makes it available.

Any additional comments?

The reader needs to read book 1, 2, and 3.If you started with book 4, it would be hard to really understand what happened up to that point. It is sometimes cheaper to purchase the book as a kindle on Amazon.com and then the audio version. I found it was pleasurable to read and listen to the story (Whispersync). This books is more for older teens and adults due to the battle situations in the book. The "B" word is used a few times. This book had the best characterizations and plot of any in the series. Interested in how the series will pan out.

Enjoyable series

So I am currently on book 4 and I find myself sad when it ends but looking forward to the next. For me I love the characters funny wit & banter. Each book has kept my interest & hasn’t kept the reader hanging on to long on how, what, where & why…
Now on to book 5 & thank you Robert for making the audiobook books I know these can be costly & I truly appreciate it.

So happy I found these...wish the rest were audio!

I'm really enjoying this series. It keeps my attention despite I'm not a fan of the narrator. I had read books 1-3, and regret there aren't more audio for the rest of the series. Of late I've had difficulty enjoying even my favorite authors audibly, but I truly with the rest of the series was audio. Already reading the book Omega...yes, very happy with it.

Not cliche

I appreciate this story and the series. It's different than the vampires, and zombie stories out in replete. It offers a twist on the superhero storyline, through offering us megahuman and the discovery of power. I really liked it.

RESPECTFUL when covering sexual situations.

Some authors go too far when detailing sexal encounters regardless of whether the participants are of legal age, consent to the encounter, or an unwilling/unwitting victim (some people lie to get what they want and do not care who they hurt). Crane deals with occassional sexual encounters realistically but avoids going over the cliff into leud and disgusting details. Far too many people alive today are survivors of encouters with sexual predators. It is helpful to know "we" are not alone and there can be healthy relationships in the future. One of the most important things I noticed in the Girl in a Box series so far is that even people who do not have normal families can find people worthy of becoming trusted friends who can form a different type of family. The story is not candy coated. There are life and death situations around every corner. Everyone makes mistakes on occassion. There are evil people and good people and people trying to weave a path between. Kind of like real life. I look forward to future books in this series.
