Loved it

Though I loved getting into Joe’s head, this one tugged st my heart strings. “Please don’t take her from me.” Just got to me. The narrator is -a bit better than Frances Fuller, but she’s devoid of emotion and flow of her words. I enjoy the series so much, I’m certainly willing to look past that!

Narrator so much better

So much better with this narrator. I almost quit this series because of the first narrator, but stayed with it because some of you said it will get better with the narrator change! Thanks!

Glad to Have a New Narrator.

I almost left the series due to the previous narrator. The mispronounced words and odd inflections were distracting. However, the narrator was actually able to change her voice well between characters quite well. Hopefully the new narrator will grow into her role and develop her character voices.

Too short

I started with the first book and have been working my way through. I've liked all of them so far except this one. First they changed the narrator which took a while to get used to, the southern accent was completely dropped. I suppose it was because many people complained about the last narrator. Second this book is short and nothing really happens. This book feels like a filler. I think all of it could have been summed up in a couple chapters at the beginning of the next book which I will be listening to, despite my disappointment in this one.

Why does she love this creep?

He is weak, easily manipulated. Why doesn't he go to the feds over the blackmail? If Rose takes him back, I give up on the series.

Heartache and the start of healing

This novella gives us a glimpse of the lead up to and the aftermath of Joe breaking up with Rose to pursue a political career. We also get some chapters from Joe’s POV. Despite being short, the story was well written, the characters had dimension and the storyline was engaging. However, this novella is not really a standalone, it needs to be read after the previous book in the series. I am excited to read more in the series as Rose continues to grow and heal.

Shannon McManus did a good job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters fairly convincingly.

Far better than the previous narrator!

If you can muddle through the first three books and the awful narration you will love the remaining books! I’ve listened multiple times and I get hooked every time.

Waste of a credit

Wish I had read some of the reviews before adding this to my library. I have liked the series so far, but this short three hour book is just a recap of the book before it. Don't know what the purpose of it really was. I was looking for a continuation not a fill in the blanks.
