Publisher's Summary

When Scott Alan gets a phone call that his brother was hurt on a logging job, he rushes to Brian’s side, only to find that his injuries are minor - but not before he meets Hank Ballam, an adrenaline-seeking logger who's an outcast among his co-workers.

Hank is a study in contrast: he lives for the rush of climbing and cutting trees almost as much as he loves the peace he finds exploring the mountains he calls home. Scott’s attraction to Hank is immediate and mind-blowing, and it’s what Scott has always wanted: to know what it’s like to love someone he can’t live without.

Scott needs to know if Hank’s true feelings will be a roar of passion or simply a quiet friendship, one that doesn’t match Scott’s devotion. But it may be too late: Scott simply can’t help himself from falling hard for Hank.

BAD!

If this had been the first gay romance book I purchased, I would have NEVER purchased another! It started out okay then turned into a poorly written porno. There are some very good gay romance books out there (such as Finding Zack) but this is not one of them! This is the only book I have purchased out of 154 that I was not able to finish!

Great story!!

What made the experience of listening to Falling the most enjoyable?

I think Charlie David did a great job at telling the story. It made listening to this amazing story that much more enjoyable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would say Hank is my favorite character because although he's portrayed as a big tough logger in the beginning of the story, we get to see a softer side to him.

Have you listened to any of Charlie David’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I've listened to Hot Head and compared to that Charlie David did another great job bringing a story to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Pretty much all the tender moments between Hank and Scott. It showed that they truly care about each other.

Cute!

This was a very cute and witty story. I love the whole tree climber thing.. I think I really like a really strong lead character in my stories though and a struggling one. This one had two really strong leads so, the balance was just to balanced it you know what I mean. Good drama, especially when the accident happens, but other than that... this was just cute.

David is a great narrator. I will look for more David narration.

Good credit, not a good buy. I feel kinda jipped... b/c I bought.. I wish I would have waited for my credit... but some you win and some you lose...right!

I enjoyed it.

Overall, I enjoyed this book... I mean, it is what it is, you know? A trashy romance, with a decent story. I actually found myself getting really bored with the sex, though. It was constant. If you heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times. Not a lot of variety. My biggest beef with this was that Charlie David managed to mispronounce certain words, and I’m not talking about a difference between Canadian and US English. The one time in the book when the word was certainly “prostrate” he said “prostate.” I suppose that was because of the 100 times the word prostate was used in the sex scenes. Anyway, there were others. A little professionalism from the talent, please! Overall, I enjoyed the book. I cared about the characters, so... go for it.

Was Good For The Most Part

Was an ok story. I liked the beginning and middle. But the last 2 hours were a little cliche and predictable.

way too much porn

What would have made Falling better?

The last third is all erotic (I am struggling to get through the last hour hoping the porn will quit.). I like some erotic passages in M/MR, but if I want solid porn, I will go elsewhere. This is not what I expected, and not how the book appeared for quite a bit of the time I was listening.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not sure at this point.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I don't know what this question means.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

My opinion is purely personal. Maybe others will like the book. I hope they do.

Some Faults To Point Out

Where does Falling rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The narration is okay. I understand that narrating an entire novel might be difficult, but it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to make the voice of the main characters different, even just slightly. Sometimes I would loose track of which character was speaking until there was comment made about or to another character.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Falling?

The scene at the Lake, I knew it was coming, but I got excited waiting for it to happen. All the internal dialogue leading up to it made me want it to come sooner.

What three words best describe Charlie David’s performance?

Okay - Needs Improvement.

Any additional comments?

I'm listening to this on both an app on my laptop and an app on my phone, several times towards the end of a chapter, it would repeat the last 30sec of dialogue. It can be kind of annoying.

Lots of Fun and Romance

This was a sweet romance novel with some unrealistic aspects, but overall I really enjoyed it. Yes, there were some plot holes, but don't get hung up on them. The romance is there and the narrator does a great job.
