Publisher's Summary

A Spanish treasure ship is driven by a hurricane onto the rocky shoreline of Elbow Cay in September of 1566. Few of the crew survive, but they manage to salvage most of the treasure and bury it on the island, leaving a clue to its location in a chest placed in the boughs of a young mangrove tree. Four hundred forty years later, Jesse McDermitt and his friends solve the riddle that was hidden inside a chest found encased in the now-ancient mangrove. When the head of the Miami-based Croatian mob learns about the treasure he goes to great lengths and expense, in an attempt to relieve Jesse and his friends of the riches. A demented, hyper-sexed island woman also wants it for her own, as does a hot-shot Miami attorney and his son, who is married to Jesse's estranged daughter. As the body count grows, will the crew of Gaspar's Revenge find the treasure or become one of the island's statistics?

I'm really enjoying this series!!!!

I started listening to Wayne Stinnett's Charity Styles when it was spun off of this series a few years ago. Following the most recent release on 5/3/18 I decided it was time to listen to the series is was spun from. I have just completed book five in this series and can't wait to get to listening to the next . I've seen another reviewer on Audible (Wayne Mathews,NC) review these books but didn't think they would be something I would be interested in, I should have paid more attention to his reviews, these books are GREAT and the narration by Nick Sullivan is is equally as good. My HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS! If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.

A truly wonderful story

I love each and every ebook and audio book of the entire Jesse McDermott Caribbean Adventure series. The writing is top notch as well as the stories and fully developed characters.
I highly recommend this author and all his books as some of the best I have had the pleasure of reading.

Difficult to rate

There is a lot to like about this novel, but it does not quite justify a 5 star rating unlike novels 3 and 4 in this series. It is still a very worthwhile military/espionage thriller. Jesse McDermitt finally establishes a relationship with his two daughters who he had not seen or heard from in almost 15 years. Narration is outstanding.

Another good book

Narrator does an excellent job and the story is interesting... I love the description of islands and ocean. I enjoy listening while doing chores around the house.

Grammar errors ruined the story

The story was entertaining, and I enjoyed the descriptions of Florida life. It was monumentally irritating to hear the constant references to "Me and John or Mary." rather than "Mary or John and I". A decent author should know better, as should the editor and copywriter. Not sure I can stand to pay for another book of grammatical mistakes.
