One dead body. Multiple identities. Can an amateur sleuth see through the charade before she becomes the next victim?

Young widow, Dotty Sayers, is delighted with her new auction house job in Britain’s picturesque Cotswolds, until she learns she’s losing her home and the illusion of a fresh start begins to slip away. Disguising her disappointment, she reluctantly takes part in an autumn parade, but the day’s pageantry is tarnished when an unknown man is found dead.

The police ask Dotty to appraise items from the victim’s home, but rather than learning his name, she uncovers a trail of false identities. When one of them leads to a client, her search for the truth takes a fatal turn.

Can Dotty unmask the killer before she becomes the next victim?

Fake Death is the first book in the captivating Dotty Sayers Antique Mystery series. If you enjoy intriguing mysteries, entertaining characters and the glorious British countryside, then you’ll adore Victoria Tait’s enthralling tale.

I love this series. It is an easy listen with well rounded characters. Perfect with a hot cuppa and some biscuits.

Wholesome

The computer generated voice with which this book was read, had the same pitch volume and timber for every character. It became difficult for me to tell the characters apart: who is speaking at this time and who is not. The book may have a fine plot, but it failed to engage me, and I will not order any of the subsequent sequels to the book

Computer generated Voice fails to please

The story was very basic and the characters, especially the main one, were a bit pathetic. The book may have seemed better had a human narrated it. The narration was awful, speaking where there should be a pause, pausing where there shouldn’t be one. Raising the voice slightly when it should be lowered. It made it confusing to listen to, trying to understand who was actually talking and in what context. I won’t listen to another book without human narration.
