Publisher's summary

"Afraid to be alone with me?" he challenged. "How am I going to be your boyfriend then?"

"Pretend boyfriend," I emphasized.

He gave me a tight-lipped smile. "You do know that this has to look convincing if you expect people to believe I'm your boyfriend, don't you?"

In desperation, Sarah hires Gage to pretend to be her boyfriend. It was supposed to be only a business arrangement, but now her feelings for her fake boyfriend are real.

Heartfelt!

This one is such sweet story of a high school girl that didn’t think she was beautiful. Kalena did a great job narrating it.

Super Cute!

This was a super cute listen, I have a special place in my heart for New Adult/Young Adult Romances. I loved listening as Sarah and Gage got closer to each other in their "fake" relationship as it began to develop into more. The story is kind of predictable, and we start getting hints early on that indicate where the story is going to go. However as it was getting closer to almost the very end, I started to really wonder if the author was going to leave us with an unhappy ending. There are a few things about the characters that are entirely unique which made them relatable and helped us get attached. I did think Sarah's parent's being mostly absent was a little strange. I thought it was a well written clean YA /new adult romance and enjoyed it all the way through.

I thought the narrator did a great job in this performance and that she fit Sarah well. She had just enough emotion in the important parts and kept me engaged in the story.

I received a review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

More than what I expected

Sarah and Gage, I loved their story, I'm definitely looking forward for the next book. Good YA book, where teenager hires a fake boyfriend and gets more than she expected, a future rockstar, a bad boy outside but a sweet attentive guy in the inside. Kalena Shubert did a good job narrating this audiobook. It was short but hopefully we get more in the second one, as I think of done right it can be a good series.

Just couldn’t get into it

It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t awful, it just was. I really wanted to like it, but something was missing for me. The narrator did a fantastic job and was very believable as a young girl.

A Lot of Fun!

Desperate to stop her new stepsister's harassment, Sarah hires Gage to be pretend to be her boyfriend. She hopes a few fake dates will convince her stepsister that she's not a threat, but her time with Gage seems like so much more than a paid arrangement.

This was a great YA novel I'd recommend for older teens, there's some explicit situations and language not suitable for younger teens. The hired boyfriend story is one I will never get tired of, I love all the different ways two people can fall in love. The author created two likable characters that were perfectly balanced and, well, perfect together. Gage is just dreamy, a true rock Sex God, and I loved watching him open up to Sarah. Sarah can lack confidence at times, but she is always friendly and kind. The book was a lot of fun. I would love to read a sequel featuring Dillan or Emily, as long as it has a cameo and update on Sarah and Gage!

The narration was well done, Kalena Schubert has the perfect voice for Sarah, and performed voices for each character. It pulled me right into the story and back into high school *yikes!*. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a cute story about what it is like to be new and without friends in an unfamiliar environment. The ups and downs of learning to be yourself and obtaining new friends while playing the role others expect of you is difficult. The moral of the story is that the truth is always best in all situations! Kalena Schubert did well narrating. Overall this was a cute becoming of age story.

Yes!

Okay, so I had to rewrite this review because there was some sort of bug with audible when I originally posted it that my review vanished but my rating remained. After contacting audible support, they looked into it and then escalated the issue to another department and suggested I rewrite it in the mean time.

Here it goes. I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

Spoilers may be included, viewer be aware.

I LOVED this story. I hated the narrator though. There was something about her voice that was very annoying, I’m not sure what, but I felt like I was listening to a little kid talking instead of a teenage girl.

The main character is so cute! Love her little heart.
& the bad boy... <3 He was perfect. At first it seemed like he was going to end up being an unlikeable jerk, until he reacts to hearing about her issues with douche bag- He just met the girl and he got heated because he thought she was about to say she’d been sexually assaulted by another person (douche bag) that he doesn’t know. That showed that he was caring and more than likely a gentleman and that his attitude towards her at first was just his frustration over his car and taking her money.

These two loveable idiots spent the entire book liking each other... and they were both oblivious to the fact that they both felt the same way. I couldn’t stop listening once I started, I couldn’t wait for these two to get together already!

I also loved how the author ended the story. Usually in stories like this, they would have parted ways once douche bag and Courtney announced their official relationship status as per the agreement, only for the stupid boy to realize at the end how he really felt about the girl. But in this story? When he found out, he told her he wanted to be with her for real. & it was so sweet. I loved that! It was not what I was expecting and that made it perfect.

Too cute

young adult is not my usual, but fake relationships are one I like, so I thought why not. this was definitely a cuter one. I liked that the characters didn't seem older than they were, and that they came across as real, insecure teens.

this is a new to me narator, and at first I thought she had a lisp, but I think it was a production issue. she also sounded really young, almost chipmunk like, but Sarah was a young, inexperienced teen, so it worked. I just can't imagine this narator doing an older age though, but for this story, it was perfect
