Publisher's Summary

Slate Solis went from being a guy that people went to in times of need to an ex-con that people crossed the street to avoid being too close to.

He knows he's done wrong, but out of all of his sins, only one really bothers him-coveting thy neighbor's wife. Harleigh Belle - the cute little lady that never gives him a second glance.

After seeing her for the first time while he was in prison, she's stayed on his mind for three long years. Each time she comes in to visit with her friend on family day, he can't help but stare. Then the day comes that he's set free, and he's almost disappointed that he'll never see her again.

Except fate has different plans. He hasn't been back in his house for more than three hours when he sees her. Harleigh Belle in all her glory...oh, and her husband, who is everything Slate isn't.

He tells himself that her being 50 feet away from him, all day every day, is a complete coincidence. One that he shouldn't take advantage of. The more time passes, the harder it gets to stay away. Until one day, and one very ill-timed thunderstorm, ruin everything.

Who knew that baby-making-weather was a real thing?

Contains mature themes.

Loyalisa30

Harleigh and Slate’s frenemies to lovers story is my favorite by Lani Lynn Vale! The story offers a wide variety of emotions to include laughter, betrayal, sadness, sacrifice, deceit and family support. The straight-forward, sheltered but feisty Harleigh cracked me up, but Slate’s observant, protective instincts, hardworking yet introverted tendencies made them the perfect people for one another. Aiden Snow and Kendall Taylor delivered an excellent performance of the characters making their narration an enjoyable listening experience 🎧📚Worth the credit!🥰😍🤩🥰😘

When opposites attract...

Slate was in prison when he first saw Harleigh...and he was attracted to the petite woman...except she was married...or so he thought. Then, a few years later, he’s out of prison and wouldn’t you know that the pint sized woman is his neighbor. In fact, Harleigh has been enjoying her naps in the hammock on Slate’s property and now he’s back and has the nerve to tell her that she’s trespassing! So starts the battle between this pair. Takes a while to get an HEA but the journey is mostly funny, with a wee bit of drama mixed in. Good read/listen.

Slate and Harleigh

Lani Lynn Vale never disappoints! It feels like I have been waiting for Slate's story for a long time. He was introduced in the past, and his story intrigued me. His story is so much more than intriguing, it was heartbreaking, and beautifully turned into something more than what he thinks he deserves. It's always nice that people from other books are intertwined each story, its refreshing to get a glimpse into what they are doing now. This was an exciting, suspenseful, and passionate ride to go on with Slate and Harleigh.
Narration was perfection., Aiden Snow and Kendall Taylor did an outstanding job of bringing this story to life,

Female Protagonist is a raging B*TCH, DNF

Save your $$/credit. I am a massive LLV fan but I could stand Harley at all. She is a heinous shrew. DNF @ 10%

Slate and his mate

I loved this story and the audible made it perfection. I have listened to it 3 times before I could stop to write this review. Slate’s story just touched me. I know it’s going to be a favorite audible listen again and again. It has a quirky zany female who brings Slate back to living after his incarceration. Excellent narrators. HEA. This author writes really good stories that end with an HEA, makes you want to read more in whatever series you just read BUT she does NOT use the devious trickery of leaving the reader with a cliffhanger for 4-6 months waiting for the next book. Highly recommend this author and especially this book.
