Publisher's summary

From the greatest western writers of the twenty-first century, the first adventure in The Eagles, one of the most iconic and beloved sagas of the American frontier

A man as rugged as the New Frontier and as bold as the untamed West . . .

Orphaned at the age of seven and adopted by the Indians, Jamie Ian MacCallister grew into a man more at ease in the wilderness than among men. But when the westward strike drove him across the Arkansas Territory into Texas, he finally found himself a home—in the middle of a bloody war.

Texans like Jim Bowie and Sam Houston were waging a fierce struggle against Santa Anna's Mexican army, and Jamie MacCallister made the perfect scout for the fledgling volunteer force. What lay ahead of them was a place called the Alamo, thirteen days of blood, dust, and courage, and a battle that would become an undying legend of the American West . . .

Excellent review of an historical event, along with the novel of interesting characters

I enjoyed all of it. The historical narrative, along with the humorous fictional characters. A great book. The narrator was excellent as well.

Outstanding

This one of the best of Mr. Johnstone works. Narration is spot on. Looking forward to the next one but have concerns about a dramatized version.

Very good story. Good narration.

The story almost seemed like a documentary about the Alamo battle. The main character Jaime was very interesting and so were other characters in the story. I was a little worried about finishing the book when I purchased it because of the length of time. I didn’t want to stop listening once I started as it turned out. The narrator was very good and that helps. If you like western stories you’re going to like this one.

Remember the Alamo A great story!

A Great story line, action. Romance, action. Patriotic and historical exciting. Great character development and interesting native Americans and historical Mexican war hero’s! Bigger then life super heroes and action packed gun fights. Painting the old west with excitement and historical facts, where you really care about the characters. Interesting women characters not jut stereotypes that are boring, Good story line and families interactions!

Great new story....

Eagle is an excellent combination of the Mountain Man and a new character. There is not enough NONE Dramatized Adaptation of this series. Dramatized Adaptation of a book is offensive. I will never buy one. I am considering canceling my membership and moving to Chirp.

Best of the MacCallister books I’ve heard

I really enjoyed how Johnstone interwove true history with this fictional character. Outstanding.
I probably enjoyed this book more than any of the dozens of Johnstone’s books I’ve read previously.

trope after trope

think of a western cliche. it's in this book. all of them. quiet lead with a dark past is better than everyone at everything and has a horse no one else can touch but he's a horse whisperer and.... you get the point.
