Publisher's summary

The external environment of a business can effect sales dramatically both in positive and negative ways. While many business personnel spend too much time on the internal environment, the problem they may be looking to solve may actual be an external one. This paper was written for a senior business management class. Grade received was a 100%. The paper takes in knowledge learned in class and definitions to explain external environment assessment details of a business. I use my own occupation as an example, and the paper does well at transitioning from topic to topic and intertwining examples into the body of the essay.

How to assess what is coming at your business

I often think that Clinger would be great doing a business seminar. Many of his books, f strung together, would make for a great hour to hour and a half teaching tool for managers and executives. Here he points out how things in the environment, i.e. from outside of your company, can affect your operation.

He quickly points out that not all things in the environments are bad, there are opportunities that pop up as well. The trick is being able to see them for what they are, take stock of the situation, and then make the proper choice and do what will benefit you.

I'm not going to list his ideas or tell you about them, that would negate the whole point of the book, but I will say he has some solid advice. I really this this is best suited for someone who started their own business, but never went to school for business. That is not to say that it couldn't help trained personell, but is really great for someone who worked their way up in a company.

Fiedler does a great job narrating thebook, and holds your interest.
