• Raising Children in Light: Parenting Lessons from A Course in Miracles (Sunday Gathering Sermon)
    Aug 26 2024

A Course in Miracles contains a beautiful picture of what it is to be a parent. The Course speaks of parents as being in service of the spiritual development of children, with the major themes of instilling wisdom, providing emotional, and physical safety, and love. If we do this well, we can deposit what the Course calls a "reserve of strength" into the hearts of our children that can both prepare them for and repair them from the damage inflicted by this world. If you're interested in what the Course teaches on the topic of parenting, you won't want to miss this Sunday Gathering sermon from Emily Perry.

  • The Priestess in A Course in Miracles
    Aug 5 2024

In the months before A Course in Miracles started coming through, scribe Helen Schucman had three different Priestess visions that all appear to represent a past life of hers. One of those visions would continue to recur for years and even makes an appearance in the Text and the Workbook of the Course. But who is the Priestess, and why does she matter to our own spiritual journey? In this conversation, Robert and Emily discuss a little-known but very important element of the Course's story that has the potential to transform your entire prayer practice.

  • The Forgotten Material - Upcoming Series Preview
    Jul 29 2024

In this episode of Exploring A Course in Miracles, Robert and Emily Perry focus on two of the most important but little-known writings from Course scribe Helen Schucman: The Gifts of God and the Special Messages. The Gifts of God is Helen Schucman's last authentic scribing, taken down just three years before she died, and contains beautiful teachings on how God loves, the "secret place" in everyone where His gifts are laid, and the undesirability of the world. Special Messages are a series of personal messages Helen received that also contain beautiful and important teachings on our personal functions, as well as the function of A Course in Miracles more broadly.

In this discussion, Robert and Emily offer a preview of their upcoming 11-week series "The Forgotten Material: Exploring Helen Schucman's Final Dictation and Special Messages," which begins on August 12th and is open to members of our Course Companions program. If you are not a member of Course Companions and would like to join us for this special series, we invite you to visit coursecompanions.com.

  • From Words to Experience in A Course in Miracles
    Jul 22 2024

In contemporary spirituality, we are told to "go beyond concepts and words" to a more direct connection with God. We are told not to be too "in our heads" because thinking blocks spiritual experience. These are very popular teachings, but how should we view these ideas as students of A Course in Miracles, especially given that the Course is 2,000 pages of words? Not surprisingly, the Course has its own answer to this question - namely, it's is asking us to use words as a way to go beyond words. To put it another way, we're meant to use words as the vehicle to reach experience and, in this episode, Robert and Emily share what that means and how the Course asks us to do it.

  • Why We Need Teachers
    Jul 8 2024

In this episode, Robert and Emily discuss the need for wise and experienced spiritual teachers and the call that some feel to be a teacher. They talk about the qualities of a teacher the Course highlights—qualities the Course calls the “deeper characteristics” of the advanced teacher of God—as well as how to cultivate them yourself and look for them in others.

  • A Course in Miracles and Homosexuality
    Jun 24 2024

Many have come upon the comments about homosexuality after miracle principle 18 in the Complete and Annotated Edition of A Course in Miracles (CE) and have been turned off, thinking this is the same old prejudiced rhetoric. But what do these paragraphs really say? In this episode, Robert and Emily explore that question in detail, discussing the Course's consistent affirmation of the holiness, equality, and worth of all. In addition, they discuss the suffering caused when one's scripture says a person is condemned by God for their sexual orientation and how the Course offers a healing of this harmful worldview.
