Acerca de esta escucha
Are AI robots and computers really going take over the world?
Artificial intelligence (AI) guru Steve Shwartz has grown frustrated with the fear-inducing hype around AI in popular culture and media. Yes, today’s AI systems are miracles of modern engineering, but no, humans do not have to fear robots seizing control or taking over all our jobs. In this exploration of the fascinating and ever-changing landscape of AI, Shwartz separates the facts from the tropes of apocalyptic science fiction.
This captivating book explains:
- how AI really works in simple terms and why it cannot evolve into the AI of science fiction lore;
- the groundbreaking AI technologies that do exist, including facial recognition, self-driving cars, machine translation, deepfakes, and many others;
- the crucial areas where we will need to adopt new laws and policies in order to counter threats to our safety and personal freedoms resulting from the widespread use of AI.
So although we don’t have to worry about evil robots rising to power and turning us into pets - and we probably never will - artificial intelligence is here to stay, and we must learn to separate fact from fiction and embrace how this amazing technology enhances our world.

AI will be the defining development of the 21st century. Within two decades, aspects of daily human life will be unrecognizable. AI will generate unprecedented wealth, revolutionize medicine and education through human-machine symbiosis, and create brand-new forms of communication and entertainment. In liberating us from routine work, however, AI will also challenge the organizing principles of our economic and social order.

Historia
Artificial intelligence does the seemingly impossible - driving cars, trading stocks, and teaching children. But facing the sea change that AI will bring can be paralyzing. How should companies set strategies, governments design policies, and people plan their lives for a world so different from what we know? In Prediction Machines, three eminent economists recast the rise of AI as a drop in the cost of prediction. With this single, masterful stroke, they lift the curtain on the AI-is-magic hype and show how basic tools from economics provide clarity about the AI revolution and a basis for action by CEOs, managers, policy makers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

Given the large amounts of data we use everyday; whether it is in the web, supermarkets, social media etc., analysis of data has become integral to our daily life. The ability to do so effectively can propel your career or business to great heights. Machine learning is the most effective data analysis tool. While it is a complex topic, it can be broken down into simpler steps, as show in this audiobook. We are using Python, which is a great programming language for beginners. Python is a great language that is commonly used with machine learning.

Historia
Today's "machine-learning" systems, trained by data, are so effective that we've invited them to see and hear for us - and to make decisions on our behalf. But alarm bells are ringing. Systems cull résumés until, years later, we discover that they have inherent gender biases. Algorithms decide bail and parole - and appear to assess black and white defendants differently. We can no longer assume that our mortgage application, or even our medical tests, will be seen by human eyes. And autonomous vehicles on our streets can injure or kill.

In Artificial Intelligence, Mitchell turns to the most urgent questions concerning AI today: How intelligent - really - are the best AI programs? How do they work? What can they actually do, and when do they fail? How humanlike do we expect them to become, and how soon do we need to worry about them surpassing us? Along the way, she introduces the dominant methods of modern AI and machine learning, describing cutting-edge AI programs, their human inventors, and the historical lines of thought that led to recent achievements.

Historia
In Artificial Unintelligence, Meredith Broussard argues that our collective enthusiasm for applying computer technology to every aspect of life has resulted in a tremendous amount of poorly designed systems. We are so eager to do everything digitally - hiring, driving, paying bills, even choosing romantic partners - that we have stopped demanding that our technology actually work. Broussard, a software developer and journalist, reminds us that there are fundamental limits to what we can (and should) do with technology.

Factual and Informed
It was refreshing to read something clearly written which put AI in a fact based perspective. The media is often a culprit in exaggerating the truth of some form of technology too sophisticated for non tech oriented people to unravel. This thoughtful presentation explains in simple terms a system often hyped by the media.
