Somewhere in the depths of a cold Maine winter, Angelina Donati is hiding. Angelina has her own problems and does not need another burden. But how can a former lost child turn her back on a girl in need?
Natalie seems to have no magical powers, but in the world following Mayor Riley's Realm Shift, many things have changed. Deadly creatures once more stalk the world, unseen since times long gone. Eli Leventhal warns of an old world awoken by Mayor Riley's recklessness, a world of which he has refused to speak for most of his 2,000 years. A world where ancient evils return to reconquer what was once theirs and uncover the forgotten relics of the past.
Only a few possess the power, and the will, to stop them. But doing so may cost Angelina everything that she has sworn to devote her life to protect.
