Publisher's Summary

I’m Frankie Greco. I’m a strong, independent woman. I have to be. Because, I can tell when people are lying. Literally. Since I can remember, a little voice inside my head has whispered to me whenever I hear lies. And everybody lies. It’s hard to avoid, when there are so many reasons. To save people pain. To save your own ass. To get revenge. Or because you just can’t help it. I could go on and on.

To distract myself, I focus on my career. I recently bought out what used to be one of the hottest nightclubs in Los Angeles, so it’s not hard. There are few people I let in, and only they know my secret. But romantic relationships? They never last long. Once the big lies start, I’m out. And trust me, they always start, sooner or later. Usually sooner. That is, until I met Julian.

I don’t know if it was the instant, primal attraction or his ability to say things in just such a way, but I couldn’t get a read on this guy to save my life, much less decide if he was even worth trying to figure out. But who was I kidding? Nobody, that’s who. Because, the little voice inside also tells me when I’m lying to myself. But even I wasn’t prepared for what letting him in would start and the pieces of my past that would come back to haunt me, leaving no part of my life unscathed.

I’d gotten cocky. I know that now. I didn’t think it was possible to surprise a girl who can spot a lie a mile away. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Note: This is a full-length, stand-alone, steamy, contemporary romantic suspense novel. This book includes mature content, and as such, is not recommended for listeners under 18 years of age or those who might be offended by such material.

HOT!!

This was my first Melanie A. Smith book, and I'm pleasantly surprised by her style and characters. Everybody Lies is brilliantly plotted, engaging, sensual, and quite steamy. Immediately, I was hooked! The storyline captured my attention from the start to the very end. The characters are absolutely fabulous; I adored Frankie, she is independent, vulnerable, with a great deal of inner-strength. Julian is compelling, dark, tattooed, and totally swoon-worthy. Together, they are combustible!

David Philip Reed's narration is excellent. He emulated the characters' personalities and emotions, bringing them to life. Overall, this was a rather enjoyable audiobook, one I recommend. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A Scorching Hot, Romantic Suspense Thriller with Substance!

Frankie Greco, a smart, independent nightclub owner with a unique gift meets and falls for Julian, a man on a mission, a man with secrets. Tense and smooth flowing, you will WANT to up the speed to break the tension and get the answers fast, but DON’T! You won’t want to miss a moment of this deliciously hot, definitely for adults only, twist filled story! I loved the chemistry between Frankie and Julian, so out of control, scorching hot and naughty. I also loved that there were a few interweaving sub plots that really fleshed out the supporting characters, tempered the heat and gave a perfect balance to the story! I confess, I didn’t see the ending coming, (no spoilers), but I was delighted with how everything came together! This one was so worth a listen. Five stars!

Lies of every sort!

From the prologue, it's evident that Frankie has a "gift" that allows her to tell when someone's lying. As she gets older, it becomes as much of a curse as it is a gift. She owns a nightclub and someone's been asking about her, which is fairly abnormal because she's the kind who keeps to herself. His name is Julian, and what she doesn't know is that he's been hired by her father to find her. But they both are immediately interested and fall quickly. Her father is a mob boss who she doesn't know and she realizes that it was Julian who found her for him. She was just a job! There's a lot she doesn't know about her life and it's fascinating for the reader to learn about it right along with Frankie.
The narration is wonderfully done by David Philip Reed. His dynamic voice captured the essence of each of the characters as they came to life.

great story

I enjoyed this book. The relationship between the h and H was a slow build but once it started it escalated quickly. I liked how the challenge for the h and H's budding relationship developed and the hook at the end. There were some inconsistencies with the h's "power" as a lie detector. In the end, it turns out her whole life is a lie which is hard to believe. The sex scenes were HOT. If that bothers you, skip this book.

Steamy Romantic Suspense!!

The chemistry between the Frankie and Julian was electric! I enjoyed their scenes together, from their banter to their dirty talk. The characters both had to overcome some obstacles, Frankie with her gift and Julian with his secret. I really liked both of them being vulnerable with each other. Frankie had an interesting life, being able to tell when people are lying, so she put up walls. Julian didn't have a good start to life and fell in with a questionable crowd, so he hasn't always made the best of choices.
I quite liked the suspense element and the twist in the story. Though, the beginning of the story was a little slow in comparison to the latter half. It did feel a little disjointed because the mystery in the beginning doesn't connect with the latter half mystery.

Anyway, it's still an enjoyable book with plenty of steamy times and an interesting suspense element.

I liked the narrator; he did a good job voicing the characters, especially Julian! His trying to do a female voice for Frankie was a solid attempt, but a little weird to listen to at times, but I liked the effort he put forth!!

Everybody Lies

Characters don't have much of a backstory, just enough to explain a few things. I think they could have had a bit more fleshed out. For the most part they are likeable characters. Despite that this book keep me engaged. Story had some interesting twists. Narration was good.

hot and spicy

Frankie Greco has a gift, she can tell when someone is lying. She entrusted only a few people with her secret. She is independent, strong and is vulnerable.
She fell for Julian. He was there to meet her under different circumstances. there is a multi-plot , with suspense, a surprising twist and steamy sex.
David. Phillip Reed narration was very good and animated.

Very unusual and intriguing!

Frankie Greco has an unusual ability. She can tell when someone is lying. Her ability is both a blessing and curse but allows her to successfully manage her night club. That is, until she comes to the attention of some shady characters and one sexy alpha male. Julian is a challenge because it seems like he wants her and yet not. Worst of all, her abilities don't seen to be working properly when it comes to him.

This audiobook is so different from most contemporary romances. The plot is complex and unusual, but it is the intriguing twists in the story that take it to the next level!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A deliciously seductive read.

This story has a intriguingly, complex and expertly-written storyline. It will have you squeezing your legs due to deep sizzling love scenes that jumps off the pages. You will also have danger, suspense plenty of angsts to keep not wanting to move an inch until you've devoured every page.

Frankie is the strong, sensual, independent lead female character who is not without flawes.
Julian is a mysterious, dark, sexy alpha male with a air of danger and his own flawes. Together they are both beautifully damaged, but is the perfect balm for each others soul.
The intense attraction between the two of them is steamy, deliciously passionate and off the charts explosive. I will definitely be adding Melanie A. Smith to my favourite authors list.

I wasn't impressed with the narration, the difference between the characters voices was not distinctive.

I didn’t see that coming

Well, I will start off with the story. I had some ideas of what might happen near the end and who was behind everything, but I did not see that twist coming AT ALL. Great job to the author for that. I really enjoyed the story and the characters.

Now for the narration.. it was awful. I started and stopped this so many times and I just couldn’t handle the voices. I was very interested in the story though, so I stopped the audio with 4 hours left and finished reading it on my kindle.

Didn't see that coming

Steamy romance with lots of drama and a twist at the end I really didn't see coming. The narrator is not the best at female voices.
