Wow! Deeper than I ever imagined

This isn’t normally a book I would have picked but I’m so glad I did. It’s deep. It made me chuckle to shedding tears. Highly recommend. It does touch on a very sad topic, be prepared.

Couldn't stop listening!

This book pulled me in right from the start. The story tackles tough subjects, but it feels real and honest. The characters came alive and I found myself caring deeply about what happened to them. Some moments made me angry. Others gave me hope. I couldn’t stop listening because I needed to know how it would end. The narration was outstanding. Each voice felt natural, and the emotion behind it was believable. It was an excellent performance that matched the intensity of the book. I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Not for the Faint of Heart—But Worth It

The story dives deep into pain and trauma, but there’s also this quiet thread of hope that keeps you going. The narrator does a great job bringing it all to life. It’s not an easy listen, but if you’re up for something intense and meaningful, it’s totally worth it.

WOW!!!! WOW!!!! This book is amazing and so beautifully written. It’s such an intense and raw emotional story and I definitely felt all the feels from start to finish with this book. My mama heart was in pain reading this!
The things that 17 year old Stephanie has to endure in her life are horrific and no one should ever experience what she has to go through.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m so excited for the 2nd book in this Shattered Book Series- Somewhere Between Water and Sky.

I was lucky to listen to the audio version and Jessie Allan (Jess Wright) did an outstanding job with the narration! As she always does, she put her heart into it and I pictured the whole story.

I 100% recommend listening to the audio of this amazing story!

Important and Relevant

Our lead girl is trying to live her senior year of high school while dating a football player who she thinks is too good for her. Slowly we find that her family situation is bad and then worse, but she feels she has to stick around for her little brother. Things get even worse before they get better, but as her friends like to remind her - you have to hold on to hope.

Both the writing and the narration is engaging and natural. The voice of an abused, slightly detached 17 year old comes across naturally.

As devastating as it is to read stories like this, about abuse and trafficking, it is so important to have the knowledge that stories like this happen in real life all the time. We see the posters in airports and give a casual thought to the fact that maybe it happens here and there but the reality is that it is much more prevalent than most of us know and it is more difficult to escape than we realize.
