Be it hiring a new employee, investing in a financial interest, speaking with your child about drugs, confronting your significant other about suspected infidelity, or even dating someone new, having the ability to unmask a lie can have far-reaching and even life-altering consequences. Story
Getting someone to tell the truth is an essential skill that very few people possess. In the boardroom, the classroom, or our own homes, every day we interact with others and try to get the truth from them. People are often untruthful out of fear of negative consequences associated with divulging information. But if a person is made to forget the long-term outcomes, he or she can be influenced to disclose sensitive information that's being withheld.

Story
The title of this audiobook, Can I See Your Hands, refers to one of the key outcomes of this audiobook - being able to tell whether or not people want to cause us harm. To put it very simply, if you can see someone's hands and they are not concealing them, holding a weapon or positioning to strike you, one's levels of trust and confidence can increase. This simple example can serve as a reminder to all of us in many of the complex moments we have to deal with, and difficult decisions we have to make, in everyday life.

Eye opener for sure.
I like the way it breaks the examples down in actual types on confrontation with people we have on a daily basis. It was all i needed to hear to really see that what i thought was untruthful behavior, is actually very likely to be untruthful as i had originally percieved. Really not a bad book and was worth listening to.

Great listen
I really love this book. For what I do in law enforcement this is a must read/listen. I think the audio book is better because the narrator reads the material in the way someone would talk. This gives you the ability to really hear the examples instead of reading them. I would suggest this book to all in LE or a parent.

The beginning was ok
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes. I would have an edition for law enforcement professionals and one for non-professionals that are interested in the subject. The second half of the book is geared toward law enforcement only and wasn't very interesting in terms of application.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Not sure.
Did Steve Carlson do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
I didn't care for his voice. To me he sounded "old" like someone's Grandpa telling a story and, for me, that took away from the content of the book.
Did Evading Honesty inspire you to do anything?
Check reviews more carefully before I click the "buy" button.
Any additional comments?
Like any book, whether or not you will enjoy it is always a crap shoot. This wasn't awful, but since I only got content out of half the book I was disappointed, but this book was inexpensive, so I can't complain much.

Very short. Not much new info that most tenured LEOs don't already know. Some of the methods of articulating observations suggestive of dishonesty were useful, but otherwise I was not impressed. If you have a free credit and are curious, it isn't a worthless investment. I wouldn't pay cash for it.
