One night with the king changed her life. One courageous act could save her people.

When orphaned Esther is chosen from among all the beautiful women of Persia to become queen, she must hide her Jewish identity from everyone—including her husband, King Xerxes. As she navigates palace intrigues and unexpected romance, a deadly plot threatens her people's existence. Suddenly, Esther must decide: Will she risk everything—including the love she never expected to find—to save her people?

This captivating retelling of the biblical story weaves romance, courage, and destiny into a tale of a young woman who discovers her purpose is greater than she ever imagined.

The story was well written and stayed close to the biblical account for most of the book, but the ending was disappointing. Changing the king into someone he clearly was not felt unnecessary and inaccurate. Having him abandon his wives and concubines to prove his love for Esther doesn’t align with the biblical narrative and weakens Esther’s character rather than elevating it. Esther didn’t need a grand romantic gesture to validate her worth. The king loved her because she was a woman who served God, not because he suddenly became a righteous man. He was, in fact, an evil ruler, and portraying him as someone different detracts from the truth. God used Esther to fulfill His purpose, and that mission—her obedience and faith—was what truly mattered.

Good until the end when the real life story was modified.
