    Views of The Cross

    The Soldiers and the Thieves

We are in a series called “Views of the Cross”. This week we will focus on the people who were the closest to the actual cross of Jesus. The Roman soldiers and the thieves who hung next to Jesus. To the Romans, this was just a job. To the thieves, it was a punishment for their crimes. But how did they view Jesus? Forsome of those closest to the cross, there was a drastic change that day. And there can be for you as well.

    Views of The Cross

    The Romans

This Sunday, we start a 4-week series called “Views of the Cross”. In the weeks to come, we are going to look at the people who were there that day. Each week, we are going to get closer and closer to the cross. From the crowds that had gathered, to the soldiers who were charged with the execution, all the way to the men who were on the crosses beside Jesus. The final week, on Resurrection Sunday, we will look at how Jesus viewed the cross and of course, the final outcome 3 days later.

Today, we look at the cross itself. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:18

That the message of the cross is foolishness to those whoare perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. What did the cross mean to the people duringthe time of Jesus? This week, we will look at the views of the cross from the Roman and the Jewish perspectives.

Following God One Step Closer By Faith…
God has called us to take One Step Closer…By Faith! Praise God for all that He has done, is doing and will do in our lives and within His bride, the Church family here at Berea! We often say that God has great plans for us and He does! But don’t miss that we are living in the middle of those plans. God has a great moment for you within your life and for His church right now. And as long as we stay faithful, this moment will continue to reinvent itself each and every day that God blesses us with.
    Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

    Following God One Step Closer
Our mission at Berea is to Love Others One Step Closer to Jesus. God has challenged us as a family to do this in many different ways. But as we continue on our mission we must remember that we are all called to follow God wherever He may lead us. We are called to follow Jesus. Which means we are called to action. We are to use the lives He has given us to play an important role and reach out to the world around us. And we would love for you to join us!

Win the Day! Seed the Clouds

So what does it mean to seed the clouds? Honestly, I did not know that that was actually a real thing until a few years ago. But some of the original experiments on seeding clouds were done back in the 1940’s. At that time, they used dry ice to seed the cloud…and it worked. Snow began to fall.

But what does it mean in our lives?

Win the Day! Wind the Clock
    Eph. 5:16
Winding the clock means to recognize every moment for what it is—a gift from God” (158). How you view things determines how you do things. The challenge for us is to "wind the clock" by aligning our hearts with God's eternal purpose. Living each moment with faith, perseverance, and an awareness that our time is best redeemed in obedience to Him.

Win the Day! Cut the Rope…

This week’s title is “Cut the Rope.” Let me define it for you before I give you an example. Cutting the rope means puttingwhat we know, what we believe into action. Most of us don’t need to know more. We need to do more with what weknow. That is what cutting the rope is all about.
