Travel with a retired couple on a marvelous 15,770-mile road trip from Florida to Alaska in an aging truck, through the USA, Canada, and Yukon Territory. Meet a quirky Swiss goat herder and his goats and take a flight from Talkeetna and land on Ruth Glacier to view the great Denali up close, the highlight of their journey. Follow them through spectacular mountain ranges along the Alcan Highway from Dawson Creek to Skagway, while dodging potholes, bears, big horn sheep and moose. Eighty-four (84) color photos illustrate their adventures. Take a ferry on the Alaska Marine Highway to explore Russian influenced Sitka, Alaska. Experience their excursion on the Chena River to a replicated native Athabascan village. Frolic with a group of Japanese ensigns on shore leave in Anchorage and learn the history of such towns as Whitehorse, and Watson Lake, in the Yukon Territory. Learn of the many glaciers, and national parks they viewed not only in Alaska, the USA, but in Canada as well. This journey to the land of the midnight sun is filled with memories to last a lifetime. Loved this book in which the author details the trip she and her husband made to Alaska after they retired. What an adventure!! I felt like I was traveling right along with them. Living the dream...

Glad the author took me along on her trip...

it's not pronounced Tok....try Toke. It's spelled Tok but pronounced like Toke. it's the Cassier Highwat too. I noticed a ton of mispronounced things. There no Wild Elk near Denali. None. I lived in Alaska 35 years. The story was OK. Don't try it in an old junkie truck. They got lucky. it could take a month to get a car part in the Yukon.

learn to say the Alaskan towns
