This is an amazing story to hear. Even if only half were true. A must have for anyone interested in stories from North Korea.

Absolutely brutal

Will tug at your heart strings and get you fascinated with the daily lives of north Koreans. The book goes over shins journey and it is an epic odyssey. Graphic descriptions of betrayal and torture during the first half and a very interesting account of shins escape and integration into society during the 2nd half.

What I did not know but always suspected about North Korea

Well done. Fascinating story about the freedom we enjoy and all too often take for granted. We should never forget the sacrifices that came before us to give us that freedom.

The Author’s Story of his endeavors to gather the material for this book.

Told more in the fashion of a broadcast than a book, this is not at all what I was expecting to hear. I was expecting the narration of a first person account of this man’s life and experiences from being born in Camp 14, North Korea to his escape and ultimate freedom in South Korea and the United States.
