Holmes is consulted by Sir Henry Baskerville’s son after a shepherd in the baronet’s clothes is found dead at the foot of a cliff.
Watson is dispatched to Dartmoor to investigate and finds that the publication of his novel - controversial at the time because of the inadequacies it exposed in Holmes’s handling of the original case - has had some wholly unexpected consequences for the members of the dramatis personae of the original story.
It takes the return of Holmes to Dartmoor to separate truth from legend and to bring some legend to the truth.

Good story with decent narration
This is a good pastiche extending the narrative of the original Hound characters. As with the original, Holmes is almost entirely absent until the end. The characters are clear and consistent with professional narration. The production values are descent.
As with the original, the deductions come in a rushing clump at the end, but are entertaining, as are the story, character development and plot twists and red herrings.
Worth a listen for any fan of the Hound.

Top notch Sherlock Holmes Pastiche
"The Hound of the Baskervilles" is my favorite story in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's large collection. I have often searched among the many pastiches and other "sequels" written to carry this groundbreaking story ahead. First, any author who undertakes to write a full length Holmes pastiche is courageous. To do so as well as Otlando Pearson did is rare and deserves great credit.
Although slightly flawed in minor areas, the book was succesful for many reasons. An important one being out of all the other attempts I have read to date (written by other writers), this one was actually believable.
Without any spoilers I will simply encourage any Holmes fan to give this book a go. Pearson's writing, and Steve White's excellent narration, will quickly transport you back to the Devonshire of 1889 (1909) and it will seem that no time has passed since the first encounter with the "Hound from Hell" took place.
