Mary Cooper is in the difficult position of a woman alone out west. Widowed at a young age and unable to return to her family in New York since her elopement to the frontier, she works as a teacher in a small town. It's a lonely life, and she misses more than just her husband's companionship. But a respectable schoolmistress can't partake too freely of the joys of the flesh, even if she's still young and pretty. Things change for Mary in the most unexpected way when she crosses paths with an Indian. Burning Wolf needs her help at first, but he soon teaches her that a little pleasure - or even a lot of it - is nothing to be ashamed of. Mary finds that her life is forever changed by her savage secret.
