Publisher's summary

It's been seven years since Payce started his new life, and it is finally starting to feel comfortable.... Almost. But when his past catches up to him, Payce has to decide if he's going to deal with the things he left behind, or if he's going to keep running.

When his friends Damien and Dax need help, Payce is forced to confront the one person who knows him better than himself, Braxton, and the one who made him lose everything he held dear, Aaron. Seeing them both could change everything for Payce, and when past passions reignite, who will get burned in the end?

Extremely Sexy!

Wow. This was a very sexy book. There was a bit of mystery and suspense added, but definitely a romance first and foremost. You get to know the primary characters well.

I would be glad to check out another book by this author with the same narrator!

Very good story and hot!

If you could sum up Payce's Passions in three words, what would they be?

Hot and fun! Love Piper Kay and this was one of her best

What about Rex J. Silverton’s performance did you like?

He has such a good voice for this book. Rough and tumble kind of deep.

Hot M/M Romantic Suspense

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would to some one who likes this genre.

If you’ve listened to books by Piper Kay before, how does this one compare?

This is my first read/listen.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Personally I would of preferred a two person narrator. Not that the narrator was bad. It's just that this book could really benefit from a two person narration.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not.

Any additional comments?

First off I never read nor listened to the first book of the series and that may influence my review as I was sort of late to the party and may thus of missed background information which would of made this a less confusing and interesting listen.

Apparently there is a psycho ex-boy friend/friend Aaron who had been responsible for the main character Payce going to prison. Arron is causing problems, For one thing he is stalking a friend of Payce's whom Aaron had almost killed in the first book. So Aaron is running wild and causing problems, In his search to find Aaron, since the police aren't actively looking for him, Payce re-unites with his old boyhood and first love Braxton.

The book has some really hot and sexy M/M love scenes. Also there are a couple of scenes of Payce riding and repairing his motorcycle which are described in a fashion full of words and phrases with double meanings. I could never of imagined how describing doing routine motorcycle maintenance could sound so hot and sexy.

What was confusing was the switching from first person Payce and Braxton. I would initially get confused as to what character was speaking. For this reason a two person narration would of been preferable.

Why did i request this book?

I honestly don't know. I am a white, heterosexual, christian male. So why did i like a book with male to male sex? Because it was not ALL about this! Okay, it was a lot of hot sex scenes in this book, and like i said when a white, heterosexual, christian male thinks it is hot, it is hot. So this book was not for me! But it was fun! Piper Kay is a good Author! So should you get this? I honestly don't know! I found this book extremely non christian, so if your thing is this kind of books: Why not?

6 hrs and 30 mins of Rex J. Silverton is the best thing about this book! He reads with passion! He is fantastic in his reading! He makes this book better, and it sound like he loves the material more then me. So i guess that is a thing! I would recommend using Rex J. Silverton in more books, he is really one of a kind!

Some Sexy Men Here!

Narration - Rex J Silverton - OK
He has a pleasant voice and reads at a good pace. I felt like Payce and Brax were kind of bad a$$ characters though and I thought they could have sounded a bit more manly. His voice was perfect for Sparks!

The story was in the "I liked it" wheel house. This is book 2 of the series and I haven't read the first one, It wasn't like I was lost though. I didn't feel like I was missing something.

I liked Payce and Braxton and was happy for the outcome of the book. The sex scenes were pretty good although some seemed a little gratuitous.

Didn't care for the "announcer" bit when he was rolling through Brax's thoughts. That was a little over the top cheesy for me, but as a whole, it was an ok listen

Payce and Brax are sweet and sexy when they are together.

Good Story, Very Hot Sex Scenes!

I didn’t know that this was the second book in the series so the first couple of chapters were a bit confusing for me, however, I was able to catch up with the previous story quickly.

Payce and Braxton are likable guys and the sex was incredibly hot. I really enjoyed their shared backstory as teenagers trying to survive the streets on their own. While there was a decent story-line here, I think it was lacking focus and certain plot lines should have been expanded upon. Some of the dialogue was stiff and did not feel natural. There was one scene with Brax where there was an ‘announcer’ type of inner monologue that felt totally artificial and completely pulled me out of the story. It was an actual “WTH am I listening to?” moment.

Sparky was a great character and his vibrance helped to keep the book from being angst-ridden. I had a couple of laugh-out-loud moments and they were all attributed to Sparky. This book is correctly tagged as erotica. There are a lot of sex scenes and some are unbelievably hot. *Cough* Motorcycle sex *cough, cough* Rex J. Silverton did a good job with his narration and his voice only improved the sexiness.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and it was great to listen to while I was at work!

If I'd Started w/1 I'd Have A Different Reaction😴

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I am not sure that anything could have made this listening a four or five-star experience. It was written in both first-person and third person which had me very confused a lot of the time.

This was the first gay romance I have listened to and I found it hard to navigate the three or four main characters.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am currently listening to Protect and Defend by Vince Flynn.

I switch back-and-forth between contemporary romances and CIA counterterrorism thrillers. I am a strange one, but that is how I do it!

What aspect of Rex J. Silverton’s performance would you have changed?

As is my usual preference, I speed the listening to 1.5 x times the regular speed.

I gave Rex J. Silverton an above average rating because he gave a good performance with the characters he was provided. However there were times that I didn't recognize which character he was portraying.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

This book did not really spark any feeling in me. I'm not inclined to listen to another book by Piper Kay, nor another book narrated by Rex Silverstein 😕

Also, I was not really swayed one way or another in this genre.

Any additional comments?

🚓🚓 Warnings:

This is definitely intended for adult listening. There are themes of intimacy as well as some strong language and violence
