Publisher's summary

What makes a man fall in love? Why do men really cheat? What does he want in the bedroom? What's the one thing that men crave in a relationship more than anything else (besides that)? The surprising and insightful answers to life's biggest relationship questions can be found in Men, Love, & Sex: The Complete User's Guide for Women. Using an exclusive Harris Interactive poll that surveyed more than 5,000 men and women, Men's Health editor-in-chief David Zinczenko and co-author Ted Spiker have written the book that explains and decodes the male creature -- how they act, what they think, and what they want in their relationships.

With shocking and never-before-seen statistics and powerful confessions, the New York Times best-selling authors present a modern survival guide into the inner-workings of the male mind, explaining everything from why he clams up during a fight to the moment he knows he's found "the one". This indispensable guide will help women understand the men in their lives through every step of courtship: first dates, fights, break-ups, make-ups, marriage, and everything else along the way.

Men's brains, feelings, and actions can be harder to interpret than abstract art. So let Men, Love, & Sex: The Complete User's Guide for Women become your guide to navigating a relationship through all of its stages. Once you know the secrets to the male mind, you'll be able to bridge the communication gaps that divide men and women. You'll be able to strengthen the relationship you have now, or use your new insights to find the perfect man for you. In the end, you'll get better talks, better sex, better fighting, better understanding, better love, better relationships, and a better life.

For the both of you.

Men, Love, & Sex (Unabridged)

I found “Men, Love, & Sex (Unabridged)" extremely useful and very entertaining. Being married to the same guy for 24 years and somehow able to keep the passion alive, I’d like to think that I know a thing or two in this area. That’s why I highly recommend this book to any woman who strives to understand her man.

The narrator did an excellent job! One of the best narrations I’ve ever listened to.

Reviews say it all

I laughed when I read the reviews because I had the same opposite reactions from the women I loaned it to.
The first was my significant other who found it interesting, hysterically funny and it seemed to help our relationship. This person was raised in a fairly sheltered way and is admittedly a bit naive in some areas of life - I find that terribly attractive.

The second was a co worker who is a bit more, shall we say, experienced. She hated it. It was like fingernails on a chalk board.

The difference was really apparent on their reaction to the "sexiest thing I ever said/heard". Number two couldn't believe people were so unimaginative. (My) Number one thought it helped her understand it was OK to say things like that and she wouldn't sound silly. That made me happy!

They did it all for the nookie....

Although I found a few helpful hints in this book, it mostly reaffirmed my preconceived notion that it really is all about sex with men. Each chapter ends with "the sexiest thing XXXX said to a man was" followed by some version of "I want you", "do me now", "You're a sex god", etc...

The book is filled with humor, though with the aweful narration is almost impossible to tell. The narrator for this book, while he has nice voice was totally inappropriate, it's the equivalent of haveing Penthouse Forum read by Daffy Duck. Terrible choice.

I was originally drawn to the book to help reignite some passion after having my first child. I have always found that men who read Men's Health Magazine were in general better, more attentive lovers. Therefore I concluded that the auther would provide some valuable insite into the world of men. It's a peek behind the curtain that doesn't necessarily reveal the wizard. Instead you are confronted with an insecure, dirty old man. Much of the information in the book produced, for me anyway, a "Duh, like I didn't know this already" kinda feeling. Perhaps adding "for Dummies" to the title of this book would be appropriate.

In the end, while I found the book amusing, it was not the most informative book I've read on the subject and the narration was horrible. For that reason I could only give it 2 stars.

Pleeease

I bought this audiobook based on the one previous review, and was sorely disappointed. I found the book to be filled with lots and lots of excuses for men's behavior, as well as mandates for women to simply accept this behavior as "justifiable".

Perhaps the most irritating aspect of all was the narration itself. The narrator was obviously chosen because he has what many might feel is a voice that represents the "sensitive man". Before I had completed the first chapter I was simply wishing I had purchased the paperback, as I could no longer tolerate the narrator's whining. It became abundantly clear shortly thereafter that not having purchased it in the first place would have been the wisest decision of all.

If you have even the most minute feminist bone in your body, skip this one. It is a complete and total waste of time and money!

Good to know!

Even if you've been married a long time, it doesn't hurt to be reminded of some basic truths of the human experience. This lighthearted book is informative and engaging. Stephen Hoye is the perfect narrator for the subject - brotherly, best friend-ish and entertaining.

Great Insight!

I found the book informative and funny. The narrator had a nice tone to his voice and read at a good pace. I saw myself in many of the questions. Sure, many have been answered similarly, but not generally with such explanation. It felt good to know that I wasn't the only one with questions. Even "common sense" things like "men like sex" were explained in great detail and with interesting insight.

With 5000 men and women polled to make up the research for this book, there were a lot of questions. Most of those tended to be what you'd expect. The surprising things were the answers the men gave. Zinczenko states that men and women really do feel alike in their wants and needs, then he begins to build his case quite thoroughly.

Best of all, the author lays it all out in little chunks. At the end of each chapter a section called, "Say This Tonight" leads the transition to the next chapter. I found this helpful for stopping purposes.

Worth the Listen!

What made the experience of listening to Men, Love, & Sex the most enjoyable?

I am in my mid-thirties and in a relationship. I have listened to several books on relationships, but this is the one that seemed to speak to my relationship the most. I was a little reluctant based on some of the reviews that I saw here, but I am glad that I chose to read it.

resonating with truth and insight

Exactly what I needed to read after a recent experience with a new lover.
The plain-spoken, surprising, and unexpected view of the male mind here actually stopped me from ending things that are pretty fantastic.

I loved it! Just one part was missing.

I really liked this book. It's kind of a blunt, honest way of letting you know how most men think and gives you an understanding and acceptance of how they are. It also gives you encouragement and a different way of thinking about the stereotypes attributed to men. It's good for women who wonder a lot, are insecure, or anxious about what's going on in their mate's mind. It also gives you tips on what you should avoid to do or say and how you should express yourself to get good results in your relationship.
The only thing I didn't like is that the narrator didn't mention a lot of good tips that come in the book: the "Say this, Not that" tips. I also got the hard cover book but then decided to just listen to it and I noticed those parts were missing. I think those tips are crucial to guide women on how they should communicate their feelings and be fun or informative about them without complaining or being negative, which I think a lot of women may do.... So... I just wish the audio book included those nice tips for the listeners.

Good information that every woman needs to know

Before I even finished this book I was suggested it to my girlfriends. It is informative and gives you some insight into the male brain, while being entertaining. I have already started applying this new knowledge into my dating life and it seems to be working.
