Publisher's summary

Hypersexuality behavior is one of the more common aspects of an individual suffering from bipolar disorder, and causes the individual to continuously look to satisfy his or her sexual appetite. The condition can be a cause for tremendous amount of worry among loved ones of the individual that may fear for the person physical as we as sexual health. I've long said that society discusses human sexuality less in the bipolar disorder community.

I don't mean pop culture sex talk, but openly and frankly discussing sex. Despite using half-dressed models to advertise pretty much anything, we seem remarkable unwilling to discuss the sexual health of said models. As a society, we are uncomfortable discussing sexual matters in general, and sexual education is a debated topic in every school district in America.

Since collectively we can't decide what the healthy (or normal) sexual appetite is, it makes it difficult to determine exactly what is unhealthy (or abnormal). Determining exactly when a person's sexual appetite becomes problematic is a matter of personal preference. However, there are behaviors, feelings, and compulsions that clearly indicate a person has crossed the line.

Informative and well written

I recommend trying to get past the type of narration for this topic. It does feel out of place , however Patricia A. Carlisle does a wonderful job laying out the root issues with hyper sexuality and sex addictions. It is informative and well written.

really good information with a robot voice

I really enjoyed this book and it had a lot of very good information in it that could be helpful for some people. however, the book did not really have a reader? It was more of a computer voice that was automatically reading it. That was really off-putting.

Does my disorder make me horny, baby?

As someone with a Psych degree, I can say that Carlisle does a great job describing the connection between bipolar disorder and hypersexuality. She pulls no punches and dives right into the ties that bind them. She makes solid connections and backs up everything she says with well researched evidence. She keeps this book short and sweet clocking in at under 1 hours listening time. Clinger does a bang up job narrating, he is easy to follow and a pleasure to listen to.

Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Informative!

Short, but sweet. I learned many helpful things and understand what’s happening to me a little more after listening to this book!

Sounds like a computer is reading

The message is a good message. I just can't make myself sit and listen to a monotone, computer generated sounding voice for long enough to get through this book. I've tried several different times. Just can't do it. It's sad to. I think it is very informative.

couldn't get past the first 5 mins due to the narrator being monotone and almost computer like.
