one of the most informative books out there!! I recommend this book for anyone that is starting in the lifestyle.

Good basic intro for beginners

it is a good and informative guide for people just entering the lifestyle. Even though Ive been practicing for a while I even learned some new things from this book.

Fantastic overview, entertainingly presented.

By chapter 2, I bought this audiobook for my own Dom. Even though I'm experienced and have been active in the BDSM lifestyle, this book was a great broad-brush overview that helped me to understand the drivers for kinksters who differ from me, as well as giving some great food for thought and some great conversation topics that have helped us to grow as a D/s couple. Listening to this book is like hanging out with someone who's "been there, done that" and normalizes an alternative lifestyle in a clear, positive manner, gratifyingly without the posturing that's all too common. My Dom and I have had some truly amazing and revealing conversations as a result of this book, and I'm so very glad I've had the opportunity to listen. Oh, and great narration too. :)

good info shouldn't be unabridged

The book has good information. the glossary, which was read in it's entirety could have been converted into a couple of chapters that went a bit more in depth on the subjects.

excellent overview of DS and BDSM lifestyle

A personal view of the DS and BDSM that does provides a clear definition of the how, why and what it is all about. Wondering if you would fit into the DS lifestyle this is a must read.

Informative and funny

Enjoyable and funny listen. Very informative! Was actually disappointed when I finished the book! Wish he had more titles available.

Great introduction and view into the lifestyle.

Provide a look into the lifestyle and relationship advice for all types people. The book covers many topic and is very insightful. The reader had a great voice and diction, which allowed me to listen on 3x speed.

Good Info, Problematically Presented

There is a lot of good info and perspectives in this book, however it was clearly written by a cishet male. There are many sexist phrases and idioms used (e.g., ‘rule of thumb’, ‘panties in a bunch’), as well as classist phrases (e.g., ‘trailer park’). Word to the author: if you say something like, “...even though I am choosing to use ‘he’ to primarily describe dominants, and ‘she’ to primarily describe submissive doesn’t mean I adhere to any gender stereotypes...’—yeah ya do. Good try, though.
