A PLATEFUL OF ROMANCE & A SIDE ORDER OF EROTICA

Anyone who listens to Maya Banks know that she is a very talented author when it comes to this genre and her books, rather than becoming stale, thankfully seem to be getting better and better as she skilfully handles the character's temperaments rather than just the temperature that can be reached.

This one focuses more on the emotional side of the ménage as the once childhood best friends each come to terms with the impact on their lives a ménage will make but the alternative is just too unbearable to contemplate and we then see the doubts slowly turn into deeds. Not quite so much sex - in fact it isn't until chapter 19 that there's M/F action and that continues until there's a M/F/M incident and only twice is there any full F/M/M/M action which is dealt with in such a touching, emotional, loving way that it's a tender act of love and never thought of as a sleazy act.

There's also the tension as the threats and incidents mount up by the stalker which puts added pressure on the blossoming feelings of the four lovers which eventually caused unnecessary misgivings, misunderstandings and added stress. Even when the identity of the stalker is eventually uncovered it was the emotion of sadness and regret that overwhelmed everyone and was the catalyst to a perfect ending.

Would have liked a 'happily ever after' epilogue 10/20 years later with a ceremony, kids and parenthood - but hey that's just me being needy and greedy I guess and we can all dream!

Worth a credit? Well Maya if you keep writing to this standard then I'll keep buying - so my answer is a HELL YEAH.

Not Maya's best

Is there anything you would change about this book?

There are times that I just don't enjoy a book Maya writes. This was one. I just couldn't get into this one. I just expect so much from her and I feel let down on this one. Regina just got on my nerves. Even the sexual situations are not that great.

If you’ve listened to books by Maya Banks before, how does this one compare?

I have almost every book Maya has written. I like most of them, but this one is one of the few that I just don't like. I actually stopped it and went back to it later. That is something I never do.

Did Be with Me inspire you to do anything?

Yes, listen to another book because I didn't like this one.

Any additional comments?

I usually love Maya's books but on this one I'd say pass on it. I'd save my credit on something better.

Another winner from Maya!

Be With Me is another of Maya Banks' awesome stories about a woman in a relationship with three men. This one is a little different from Maya's usual offerings - Regina has known Hutch, Cam, and Sawyer for most of her life and a year ago their relationship changed from friendship to something more. Regina, shocked and scared by the change, cuts them out of her life and the men allow her to run. However, when she is attacked when on duty as a police officer, her men decide enough is enough!

Regina is a wonderfully strong character and while I enjoyed the plot of her being targeted by a killer, I probably enjoyed more the exploration of her relationships with Hutch, Cam and Sawyer. They all have doubts and how they work out the dynamics of their partnership was a joy. And, of course, as this is Maya Banks writing, there are plenty of steamy hot scenes while they explore their physical relationships.

Adam Paul tackles the narration well; he isn't my favourite narrator but he is more than up to the task here! Worth a credit? Yes, absolutely.

Yummy

I was not sure I would purchase this book based on the 4 person love triangle but I took a chance after reading the reviews and I am so glad I did. In my opinion this is a hard story to write and make it sustainable but Maya Banks did an awesome job. I love that it wasn't easy and they all had to work through growing pains as well as dedicate themselves to making the relationships work. Maya Banks did a great job at showing the complexities that would come with this type of relationship. I also enjoyed that the story wasn't just about the sex, although there are some great scenes. I think Adam Paul was a great choice for the narrator, I don't think I would love the book if it had been narrated by a female. I definitely would recommend this book to others.

STEAMY TIME WITH FOUR LOVERS

Okay so never have read a m/m/m/f book before and I rated it honestly - as a book it's got a very basic plot, the characters are basic and the climax is just something that could happen to be called a climax BUT let's be honest... you're not buying this for the plot.

Strong female character in love with three different guys, all childhood friends, brothers in a foster home, and she refuses to choose between them so she chooses none. This all came to a head one night when all the guys decided to make a pass at her and take her on all at once - after a hot gangbang she left and hasn't spoken to them for a year. In the meantime the guys, all running an architect firm, have built a house for all four of them to live in with the hopes that they'll win her back. She's a cop and gets hurt and they go to the hospital then take her home... to their new home.

What follows is the guys trying to talk her into accepting all of them as her... what, husbands, mates, lovers, partners... whatever. Basically they will sacrifice ever finding someone to be their alone to share her with the other guys. It's almost convincing but I just don't buy it. But it's fun anyway.

Like I said the characters are basic - the strong female cop, the sensitive best friend, the intriguing intellectual, and the brute who likes it kinky... there are only so many holes to fill in a body so you get the idea of what's to come.

What I liked about this Novel....

Ms. Banks did a wonderful job with this well written novel. "Be With Me" was quite a interesting read of not only a steamy read of one girl and three guys but it had a stalker in its storyline too. This was definitely one of this authors entertaining books that will keep your attention turning the pages. The author is a fantastic as she gives you romance, erotic, intrigue, murder and a downright suspenseful read. The four main characters were well developed, well portrayed, likable, and this was simply interesting to read giving the reader a sweet hot and sexy read. Be ready for some twist and turns that will keep you reading not wanting to put it down as you will be caught up and captivated until the end

A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes. I have always enjoyed listening to Maya Banks' books. I discovered her about two years ago and have listened to everything Audible has offered since then. However, it was obvious this was one of her earlier books. Her writing, characterizations, and emotions have come so far since 2008 when this book was written. Don't get me wrong - I liked this one; loved the differences in the three men, but the book was predictable and lacked, at least for me, the substance her later books have.

Would you be willing to try another book from Maya Banks? Why or why not?

Absolutely, and have.

What does Adam Paul bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I believe Adam Paul's narration of Ms. Banks' books has gotten better and better with each book he narrates. At first it was difficult to get used to the difference between he and Harry Berkley, but, like I said, I think he gets better and better.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Not sure.

Any additional comments?

Maya Banks will always be in the top five authors for me and most of the time #1. I have difficulty waiting for Audible to present us with new audio versions of her books, in fact, because I have listened to everything they have offered, I consistently go to other audio websites to see if anything new or different is offered.

So, Audible, step up your game and get some of the older books while awaiting Ms. Banks' new ones.

Deliciously erotic

A very good storyline and interesting characters, the story delved into their lives and also had a mystery and thrilling moments. The sex was very hot and erotic. Maya Banks does not disappoint. Great narration by Adam Paul.
